If you've seen Gerald McBoingBoing, you know this style! I had a similar prompt two years ago and I'm happy to see the ways that I improved. This was for a Toon June prompt.
The thing about the UPA style is that it seems simple: characters are broken down into extremely simple shapes, backgrounds are minimal. But the design came from talented veteran animators who knew where they could simplify and cut back.
It's intimidating to do the style because I'm still developing my sense of abstraction. But it's also a lot of fun to watch a bunch of cartoons, think about the art choices made and why, and to try and achieve the same effect. So this is probably my favorite prompt this year.
