With fear comes a surge of adrenaline and increased heart rate, and increased breathing. If they're in pursuit mode, they'll definitely be listening for the heartbeat and breathing with their enhanced mechanical audio receptors, and if they have a thermal imaging mode, the increased body temperature will make any potential target stand out that much more!
...and of course they have thermal imaging mode. In my universe, they're surplus military drones that were sold after being decommissioned--although it seems the engineers rushed things a bit, and left some of the advanced sensors and combat programming behind! While such advanced sensors and problem-solving programming makes them ideal for entertainment purposes as it means they're less likely to step on a child or walk off an edge or something, it also means if there's a night guy that needs his face screamed in by a scary robot, they'll find a way to provide that jump scare!
I am honestly surprised that, in 2020, there is actually still interest in what are ostensibly Five Nights at Freddy's fan characters. Thanks!
