Check that place out; I've been drawing for as long as I have and I still use reference photos. You're right when you say you're doing pretty good, if you're doing it all from memory, but even seasoned, professional artists use references.
Knowing anatomy and how it looks is a large part of being able to draw well. :) Just keep at it though; this is a good start.
