Sample of one of the backdrops I'm going to use for my next student film, a trailer for the F. Scot Fritzgerald book "Tales of the Jazz Age". This perticular scene called for a glimpse of the catle-like mansion from Diamond as Big as the Ritz. I has quite a time coming up with an interior larger-then-life enough to fit the scene and then I found a photograph of a chapel I've taken in Manchester, NH of all places. The photo was edited in photoshop to look darker, with only the windows and lights peeking thorugh the shadows. A sunbeam is going to be placed overtop the croma-keyed footage to help blend everything in.
The scene is black and white like the film is planed to be and is a perfect example of the "Film Noir" look I'm going for with the film, as well as a great metaphor for the darkness that lies within this mansion.
Best thing about using this photograph is IT'S MINE ALL MINE! I was so worried I had to pay money for a stock photo or something, because I can't use any unorgional photographs without permission of course.
