Heads up, for a better reading experience, you can check out this chapter on SoFurry
What's this? An update on a wednesday? Well, the chapter I was hoping to release last sunday is finally done, so no reason to wait. I know I've been really falling behind on my 2-week-schedule lately - sorry about that!
Anyway, here's chapter 9! Is Spyro and Flame going to be reunited after all? And what's the deal with those elders? Read and find out!
As always, the artwork is made by the amazingly talented

Oh, since this chapter is way too long to add in the submission description, you'll have to download the PDF!

So, I thought that the chapter was wonderful. Very heartfelt at the beginning and{ You mother f*cker }. Ok, lets put that little demon away. I do like some of the forshadw{ YOU MOTHER F*CKER! WHEN I FIND YOU, I’LL RIP OUT YOUR SPINE AND USE IT AS A BLAGER YOU FING C*UNT!!!!}. Alright, seems I can’t hold my demons back.
Thx for the story, bye
p.s. all in good fun carl

Yess the faith of the main character getting injured by trying to protect his love one. Cliche i got to say but how though. This is the best chapter for me so far. Because they made up, make out, and see spyro be a tiny bit possesive over flame and being dominant *swooned* how you protray him is hot.
hey i was not expecting to get a chapter this week, a surprise to be sure but a welcome one,
you know its review time you heart string ripping son of a bitch
i feel for flame right here mending a friendship that you have had for a long time is the most nerve wracking thing i can think of
Cynder feels like she is being a bit too nice here but i can accept that she is just trying to cover up her darkness or something
the elders being cunts to flame got me real angry all of a sudden
flame trying to diffuse the situation with ashes only getting more and more angry is kinda cool
first thoughts were "what the hell are the elders doing with dark crystal fragments"
followed by the thought of "OH SHIT they are going to drain the magic of the portals so spyro cant leave again" and that thought is evil Carl and i love it
HOLY SHIT Ashes going ham on the elders feelsgoodman
the apologies altho not truthful is great the fact that some random dragoness was able to scare them enough to make them apologize is great
i do love the way Flame and Ashes bounce off each other and i hope it continues in later chapters
back to dark hollow again, you seem to really like this location Carl, it is a pretty romantic place tho i guess,
aww spyro returning to his little cubby hole is so cute
spyro crying? nooooo now im crying
ohh the painting from all that time ago safe through hell AGHHH
ANOTHER KISS YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS AIHFJIUDSNGOISDBG
you did it, the crazy son of a bitch you did it you let flame be happy again THANK YOU FUCKING FINALLY IT TOOK TOO LONG WITH TOO MUCH HURT
this entire segment is just yess
separate chambers ehh i know this is purely SFW but some ideas went through my mind
their convo on the way back to the temple is adorable especially the thing about the jealousy meter
"lack of any self preservation instincts" perfectly describes spyro
of course the elders would make up some bullshit adventures to make sure the island was complacet with them as by telling people these stories they look like they were the ones that were sending him on missions
another realisation has come over me at this point that the dark gems could be used to sap cynder of her power oh FUUUUUUUUUU, you smart son of a bitch Carl
elders are terrified that he is back and spyro knowing that is great
letting the village know the elders are cunts i like that idea and not as brutal as i would have expected the methods they would be using to dispatch of them would be so calm
their little race is cute
cynder you cockblock its been 10 years let them have this
damit elders you cockblocks its been 10 years let them have this for one night
fuckn elders probably using Reds cave as a trap for Spyro and Cynder he didnt get trapped or lost in there
ember coming along? i thought she had already made the flight back to the artisans? ehh i can overlook it i guess (or was this a mistake and you ment to say ashes?)
Reds cave what a dump *speads paws out*
"no Tomas left to look for" doesnt sound like a bad thing
NO DO NOT LET THEM GO IN ALONE YOU BEAUTIFUL STUPID RED DRAGON
Carl you son of a bitch you just let flame be happy dont you dare hurt them
you must have been a bit tired at this point im seeing more and more mistakes
oh boy ashes is on a mission, this is not going to go well
and a fucking cliff hanger
all in all amazing chapter FUCK YOU DONT YOU HURT THEM

I really really love your reviews. They're great. Yes that was supposed to be Ashes and not Ember. Damn looks like some mistakes made it though then after all, and I even double proof read it this time. But it was pretty late. I'd love it if you could pm me with the mistakes you found!
Again thanks for your feedback. Sounds like it was quite the emotional rollercoaster for ya!

Ah, every time I read this, my heart sinks along with Flame himself!
The ending while cliffhangers hurt more than a burn, was quite well foreshadowed. It caught me off guard, but thinking of it after the fact makes perfect sense.
I loved the emotional built up between Spyro and Flame, it creates a mood of glee during the reunion and a great dreading feeling at the worry of both Spyro and Cynder.
I makes me wonder if they're stuck behind a forcefield as like Flame was, I could hardly think anything would harm either of them, for being quite strong dragons after all.
Again thank your for writing this, It always makes me wish for more! <3

Glad you liked it! Yes, it's a brutal cliffhanger - but I still think of this as a mostly positive chapter! Flame's reassured on every level of Spyro's love, and he's happier than he's been in a long time. Seems like the universe, or more specifically, the elders, have thrown him one final challenge to overcome, though! But don't worry, I don't think there's anything Flame wouldn't do for Spyro now!
I shed tears... just so you know...
But! This is an unexpected outcome. The elders, trying to get rid of spyro and cynder? What a plot twist!
Also, may I point out... YOU seriously took the moments of the legend of spyro trilogy out? xDD
Could I ask, whyyy you did this? :P
Was it just because it was just tooo much to explain otherwise? hehehe

Awww.... I'm sorry I made you tear up mate. Hopefully, it'll feel like it was worth it in the end.
As for the moments of TLOS, well there are a few reasons. Firstly, some of the adventures from TLOS, as awesome as they may be, are just incredibly goofy - like their run-in with the floating pirate fleet. While the trilogy itself is much darker than the rest of the Spyro games, some of those moments sort of stand out. So I wanted to play with the idea of some those adventures being mere rumors spread by other dragons. Don't worry though, the important events, like Spyro's fight against Malefor, and saving Cynder, are intact.
But more importantly, I didn't want to make it seem like Spyro was having too much fun out there. At the end of the day, Spyro left not to embark on some grand adventure but to save a friend. And if during that time he had had any chance to return to Flame, he would. This is why I wanted to shift the focus a bit to Spyro and Cynder's time in the Well of Souls, from which escape would have been difficult, if not impossible.
One day, I'd like to write a chapter or two about my alt universe version of Spyro and Cynder's adventures beyond the Forgotten Realms. I think it'd be fun!

Oh, I am sure it will. You do great.
And now I understand your choice, I could have thought of it. The two universes are too different to mix it completly. Afterall your story focuses more on the Spyro the Dragon itself. Even though I like the Idea of the rumors. Adds a great flair.

Originally, I was going to have Spyro do something quite heroic to prove his love for Flame, but then I felt that the best and most genuine thing he could do is to simply explain how he feels. A real apology that Flame could believe, and a chance for them to start over. I'm glad you think it worked. Plus, that gave me the opportunity to have the walk along the beach, a moment I really enjoyed writing. I'm glad you think it worked!
And yes, Flame's a very proficient flier! Being a big dragon is not always an adventure, and Flame is fast and agile. It was nice to give him an opportunity to show off a bit! I think he's got a very playful, mischievous side too, even though we haven't seen too much of it yet! And Spyro is incredibly proud of his Flame, which is why he talked about him nonstop with Cynder.
And I'm actually glad to hear that the cave setup was at least a little bit predictable. I was a little worried it might feel contrived and random! Having Spyro explain to Flame that he doesn't have to prove himself to earn his love was an important scene that came very late in the editing process. I'm very happy with it. I feel like it's an interesting reversal of Flame's First Flight in chapter 7, when Flame proved what he can do. In that case, overcoming his fears was a good thing. It taught him how to fly and was a great boost to his confidence. But when it comes to Red's Cave, there was just no reason for Flame to do it, and Spyro told him as much.
Again, big thanks for your feedback! It's great to hear what you guys think.
