Declan Delaney was one of those characters whose look I like, and I'd drawn him a couple times in 2014/2015, but had little idea what to do with him as a character in the beginning.

Once I designed Rollo, Farley and Caleb, and developed them as characters a bit, I decided to add Declan to the platoon. He has the same basic visual look and body structure so he fits in perfectly. Also, between the clumsy Rollo, overly cheerful Caleb, anxious Farley, and morose Mavuto, it's probably a good idea to have at least one "normal" guy in the group.
