Fursona Take 3
...sorry for the double reload in the same day, but...she wouldn't leave me alone so, I sat down for about 7 minutes and played around with her color, just a little bit and...the lion killed the leopard

Oh, but not all lions have golden manes. Many of them (and the more desirable of them as studies have shown) have very dark to black manes Younger lions tend to have gold-ish manes.

Aww, thank you! And I am inclined to agree! I just LOVE lions! The way they hug the earth when they walk, the way their muscles pull and tense beneath their skin and fur when they move, the way their eyes shine with a brilliance that challenges the sun! I just love them!!
Nods and you draw them well and frankly you started out with doing lions anyway, so I'd say it much better suits your 'fursona' personality than a panther would have. That and, heh you come from a "pride" of sisters even. Me, I was a solo act for many years, thus the panther was much better suited for me.
(Sorry, I only just noticed your new submissions)
mmm.... I think you started out with a panther, and tried to work some lion into it. Which didn't seem to work for you. Maybe you can try to start out with a lion, like here, and see if you can put some panther features in it? Just a thought. Maybe some spots around the shoulder and upper thighs, or a sort of dark streak across her back? Just thinking out loud.
Ah, well, a lion is still a cousin too! :)

Oh and on the gypsy thing... I didn't notice it until someone else said it, but it does look gypsy. I think it's the head band, together with the black curly hair and the yellow markings above the eyes. All three of them just work together that way.
But there is nothing wrong with that!
But there is nothing wrong with that!
Honestly, I started with both the panther + the lion, but the panther's color is so dominant, the lion got pushed out. When I tried a bit more to blend them, it was just not coming together. As I said, it's like mixing night and day, color wise. I wasn't using a regular jaguar, but rather a midnight one, so, it was probably doomed from the start.
HAHA! Maybe she is a gypsy! Thanks

Oh! A jaguar!
I don't think it's so much the colors, persay, but the proportions of the Fursona itself.
It really looks great as is! But what I'd suggest is to "Draw" a Black Jaguar, but to "Color" her as a Lioness. (or with the same or similar color pallet as shown above)

It didn't work out ^^; Basically, I wanted her to have features that I have. Her proportions are comparable to my own, so I really didn't want to change her shape. At first, the only thing on her that was lion-ish was her tail. The colors and such were completely jaguar-ish. Ultimately, I think I just want to be a lioness
Wow, this certainly is a very different look! Amazing what colors can do; it's still the very same cat, but the shift from panther to lion is stunning!
I have to admit; at a first and second glance, I cannot see panther in this. This lovely lady is just a very elegant and graceful lioness, with a wonderful touch of mystique to her. *giggles* I have seen some of the comments above, and again have to agree; my first thought also was; if I'd meet her, I'd give her my paw so she can read my palm It just seems so... natural!
Also with the yellow bandana/scarf; it just works! That was exactly what I was trying to say in my comment on your previous picture; choosing colors that go well together. This goes awesome! true, a red or blue bandana might stand out more and make the picture more vibrant, but I for one would say; stick with the yellow! In this color configuration, earth tones is the way to go; yellows, browns, orange, maybe some soft, shady greens, but not much more than that. Add a bright, clear color, and that bit will draw the focus away if you ask me.
*smiles*
To return to something I mentioned in my previous comment as well; your fursona is what you feel represents you the best, what you feel inside, the animal (or even simply creature) that you feel most connected with. And it does seem, from everything I have seen you draw and write (and of course the pictures! ), that you have a special affiliation with lions (which is understandable!). So perhaps this is indeed the way to go with your fursona
If you still want to mix in some panther... hmmm. *runs a paw over her whiskers* Maybe you could try an inversion of the color scheme? Try a darker ventral fur (chest/stomach) and maybe markings on the hands/feet or elsewhere, instead of light?
As for clothing... I think clothes are a bit overrated (and I'm not just saying that because I love to see nude pussycat ). Besides, I could see you prancing daintily across the plains like this, without clothing, much better than with! No clothes in this case also just seems to be much more natural.
However; you do clothes unbelievably well! So on the other hand, I do believe that there are a couple of things that you can think of that would work really well as clothing/outfits for your fursona. *giggles* Someone above me here mentioned Spain... come to think of it, yes! With that lovely hair, and those yellow markings over the eyes, and the overall gypsy-ish look, I could really see you in one of those wide, frilly, dark red and black Flamenco dresses! That just so seems to work with the look of your fursona here

Well thank you Yeah, I've abandoned the panther. I've imagined myself in that way for so long, but, in truth, when I see documentaries about lions, my heart leaps. When I see something about the other cats, the excitement and affinity is significantly reduced. It's not a bad thing, it's just that I really love lions. So, I think that's the way that I'm going to go in this one.
...and she probably will end up being nude, although, if she's going to pose with others, she may need "posing" attire...or I can just draw everyone else nude, too!
...hmm...maybe she is a gypsy! 0__o; Or, at least in some way magical!

*nodnods and smiles*
I think that indeed pretty much says it, Kitty; you're a lion at heart And a very pretty and suave one at that! So yes, I can definitely understand you would be going with this fursona, and in all honesty, the more full lion-y colors just look so good on her! It just all fits so naturally, moreso than in that previous picture with the dark fur (although I really loved that one, too )
*giggles*
Yes, whenever you'd be posing with others, either some kind of attire might be in question, or the others being nude too. I guess it would depend on the case in question, whom you would be posing with But even some strategically places flowing ribbons or like large leaves of plants they are standing near could do the trick!
*tilts her head a little and runs a paw over her whiskers*
Mmm... yes, I could kind of see the kind of wandering gypsy in her, that mysterious woman who travels from fair to fair in a horse-drawn wagon with bright colors and mysterious signs painted on the sides and so...

It certainly took me long enough to work her out. And she still needs a few changes, but she's finally starting to come along. Thanks!
...and yeah, it's a pity about the Barbary lion. I hate hearing about animals driven to extinction at human hands, but when it's an animal I'm particularly fond of, it's that much worse.
