Once I just scroll my instagram feed and had seen one cute photo of a mare with her foal by @ minhdanvufotografie. This photo seemed sweet and sensual to me, and I wanted to draw it in my style and my vision ^^

I'm assuming this is the photo that inspired it? https://www.instagram.com/p/B1Q0iI8Fhxz/
Both the original and your take on it are beautiful. :)

I had two horsie moms I was close to. One was the very first pony I worked with for the start of my off and on handling career. The second was a miniature horse I bonded with years before she foaled. That mini and her owner, my friend, did not get along. So she was sold sadly. But a few years later we were offered some free miniature horses. We were told nothing, but to just show up at an address and if not, they were to be recovered by the aspca and transferred to an auction. We knew the place and it is a known seller frequented by K-penners. So my friend took the chance. The lady had two minis and a horse she gave us. The two minis were mommas. And one was my little mini friend. She got all talkative in seeing me. The current caretaker who had her tried to get the mom and her foal, while my friend and the other owners husband got the other mini and foal in the trailer. The lady got the foal and my mini friend snapped and kicked at the woman. My friend and the owners husband came over, he said that that mare was a mean little cuss before her foal, but now she was a monster. By this time they tried to lead my mini friend to the trailer, but her foal was running around and just being a a foal. Distressed that her mom was going somewhere weird, our trailer. They rounded the foal up, she was a week old and about as heavy as a medium sized dog. That owner and husband said I should not get into the trailer with the foal and mom. They wanted to rope the foal and walk it in. I brushed it off and walked the foal in the trailer to momma. Mom was just happy to have her foal with her. That lady said she never could get near the foal without mom going after her. I was petting momma and told the lady that me and momma have prior history. She shrugged it off. Both mares needed help, they were malnourished. They were soo skinny trying to feed their foals. We got home and my friend finally realized who the one momma was. I laughed and told her I knew right away. We both were in the same stall as that momma. My friend approached the foal and momma went after her. She was mad considering a few seconds before I was petting and gentling the foal. That was the same way for a couple weeks, then the foal got colic. The vet came, and momma freaked out if I left the barn as the foal was in the alley with the vet. In eyeshot. By then me and the foal had bonded too. I had to stay with the foal for her to be calm with the vet. Even enough for the vet to give her a couple shots, and then an Iv for an hour with no fuss. I miss that momma, she was too dedicated to her foal and did not make it trying to feed the little one. It was a bad situation. We lost that momma, and the other momma lost her foal, who arrived with health issues. She was born defective to but it bluntly. Such a beautiful little filly, who deserved a better hand than what she was dealt. At least one mom and one foal was helped. We still have the foal, now three years old... She sqeals just like her mom did at the sound of my voice. She will run up to me for affection and runs to me when the others are bothering her. At only 30 inches tall, she is still tiny, but I see her mom in her more and more every day, except she is much smaller than mom. While I miss mom so much, I am glad I get to be with her little filly all the time. She is a total goof, who calls to me if I havent visited her before she sees me.
I love pics like this, especially when they bring back the memories of my equine family. Thank you n.n
