I would not say personality so much as experiencing instinctive reactions? After all, he's at the whims of his new form's biology, and as just demonstrated, yinglets have some rather strong exhibited instinctive behaviors. Time will tell how he decides to adjust to his new position, whether he fights against the role dictated by his new species' biology and fledgling society, or grows to accept it.
Fair enough, though my point is mainly that he hasn't been rejecting being a female yinglet quite as strongly as he used to be. Even with the instinctual reactions, he was originally pretty frustrated with them when he noticed them, but now he seems either ambilavent or curious about them, exhibit A being the last couple panels where he intentionally had himself thrown a bunch to test Yinglet reflexes. Maybe he's just getting used to it, who knows. Like you say, time will tell.
A lot of people have no clue how much hormones have a grip on your thinking. Going through HRT teaches you that. Everyone assumes their thinking is this nebulous thing that is separate from your body. But soon as you start on T or E when you're going one for another and all the way through second to third month, you will find your body and mind shift and think and perform in ways you had no idea of. You start having thoughts that you never knew were in you and feelings that you never experienced. And it is different just so for each person.
Now lets take Kass' case. He is a man with male thinking now stuck in a female body (Lets disregard the yinglet thing for now). His memory structure and history is all built around this male identity, how to be masculine for him, Every nuron in his body says he is a man. Then he gets thrown in this female body that is inodating him with demands to breed, to mother, to BE FEMALE. All the while his mind structure says male.
This is why Trans people often struggle and then feel better after HRT. For our example, Female to Male, they live through early life having a brain that build itself in a masculine way (rather or not they identify themselves as male) and they think of themselves as "one of the guys" and doing things with the other boys just feels better and they rebel against pink, dresses, and princesses (to use a stereotype in example). Then Puberty hits and suddenly they are growing boobs, butt, hips, a need to breed, sudden cases of bleeding. John Doe starts looking at our young trans differently and our young trans person has conflict in the brain between what the rest of their body sends them and the structure that their brain has built.
A resolution needs to happen.
The end result is all based on how strong their hormones are and how strong that structure is and how strong society pushes on them one way or the other. If our Young trans has a strong structure and society's pressure is weak, and their hormones are normal... He may be able to start doing HRT and presenting as a man. Feeling right. On the other hand, if the STructure is strong and pressure is strong and hormones are normal... He may become rebellious. Even self destructive or worse. Its why suicide rates in trans population is often so high. But if that structure is weak, hormones are normal and pressure is any level, our person may be fine with living as a woman. But she will be the "tom boy" of sorts. Into typical male things, never quite understanding why and probably not caring.
It gets even more complex from there even. But I am already writing a wall of text. As for Kass, He is who he was and he is who is. What our story is doing though is showing who he is going to be. Will his struggle intensify? Will he accept his new role as a yinglet female and go on with that. Or something in between. And given how good of a writer Val is, I suspect we'll see shifts from extremes and things in between along the way.

i second that notion - i can agree on the "mind being a plaything of the body" from a relatively neutral point of perspective.
my person had a "thyroid gland" subfunction - which went unnoticed for around 27 years. then, by a doctors checkup the anomaly was noted.
the catch why i bring that up is the thyroid gland (if i translate that correctly from german) is a regulator via hormones of all other functions of the body.
including the Brain. It was infuriating for me after having the hormone treatment after a month or so to realise having what i referred to at times as medical treatable stupidity.
my ability to remember and to stay focused at times and such was different by a landslide.
so, yes - the brain is not as above all else as it sometimes might seem and that can be very unsettling.
that said, this topic just shows more why i am so eager to see more of how this story of a comic is handled.

You don't get to decide for him, man.
I don't know what/how much you're projecting here, but saying "oh they have a female body now, better start calling him a g~i~r~l" or "oh he didn't verbally assert his manhood in the last hour, and that's ALL I NEEDED TO HEAR, WE FEMME NOW" - without him giving that permission himself - is just as fucked as misgendering an established transman/woman

And I never did, simply speculating about which direction the story will take based on what's happened in the story so far. It sounds to me much more like you have decided for him, since you're getting angry over me even suggesting that what you believe is wrong, as if you've already made up your mind that your answer is the right one even though there's absolutely nothing in the story stating whether it's one of the other. If you want to think he's MtFtM, (because remember, he started as a man) then by all means, but don't automatically assume that your interpretation is the only interpretation unless we get something in the story that outright states that's what's going on.
Probably not. There are still a LOT of loose ends. Brakka is still out there, though I'm not sure if he'll ever be showing his face again, the patriarchy is still breathing down Vislet's neck and we still don't know what that stuff was that changed Kass, where it came from or what it was supposed to be used for. I think this is just the epiphany that was needed to put Kass in the right state of mind to actively seek out the answers to these mysteries. I get the feeling the plot is going to really progressing now, but it's far from over.
I would also like to know what Vizlet and Viracroix are planning together. He said they were working on it for months and it was coming near fruition.
BTW, I assume you mean the southern patriarchy breathing down Vizlet's neck through Narklet, not the other Val Salian Patriarchs?

Val said that he has already planned the story till the end and that it would take at least 400 pages (not sure if it was 400 more pages since it was said about the issue #100 or 400 pages in total). And that'd a bare minimum because sometimes sideplotes or jokes take a page or two above the minimum. It seems reasonably safe to say that even if Val would post a page every week we are at least 6 years from the end (barring some radical change of plans).
Fortunately for him, he has a very understanding and patient trades master who does take such things as mental state and situational circumstances into account. Also, while he may have been grumpy or hostile, he hasn't entirely been slouching on the job either. But this bit of initiative will likely be most appreciated by the researcher in question.
Comics take time, and there's also the necessary coordination with Caedere to consider - and on top of that artists are just as entitled to personal time away from their work as anyone else is.
I'm a big fan of Val's too, but I'd much rather have quality than volume, and a creator who doesn't burn out and is able to enjoy bringing us this wonderful comic as much as we enjoy reading it.

I understand you, yes yes. But like Weregoat told us, lets not rush the storytella. Yes, I myself am more the "what happend then, what happend then?" Yinglet, but this time I'm just sitting quietly by the campfire and listen to his story. It's just to precious. Followed by
umbrascythe 's "Learn to live" and
Welcometaco 's "HMNIY" Storys. They are made of Yinglet! Oh! Oh! You can follow their goody good storys, while waiting for Val's next piece of clam-cake!

Oddly I am not suprised at yinglets able to write decently. I would actualy expect it. yinglets are not uncoordinated, they mostly do not practice things like writing in general. Most cases manual dexterity requires practice. Considering how small the yinglet hands are, I would actualy expect, with practice, they would be quite good at things that require manual dexterity.
Allso, oddly enough, the second to last panel, that is just about the most comfortable looking I have seen Kass looking as a yinglet yet. The way the ears are positioned, the eye whisker, pose and everything. It looks like at the momant shes feeling very comfortable with herself.

Still tunin' in and I'm very interested what exactly Kass plans to do next. More self studies? Taking special notes while visiting the enclave? It seems his priorities have changed. He was once self-loathing but has now moved on to performing his duties with more care. It makes me wonder if he's still going to reject his transformation or, for the time being, simply ignore his feelings on the situation without fully coming to terms with himself.
