2015 art, by this point I hadn't drawn Toby in a while... so here he is, looking as dapper as ever with his fancy little outfit.
I honestly can't explain said "fancy little outfit", like why it has those buttons on it like a cartoon character from the 1930s would have, for example... but it's weird and quirky and I'm not changing a thing about it! I always envisioned him as something of a short, fat Han Solo wannabe, thinking he's charming and dashing when in fact he's just a pudgy dork, and I have often considered whether or not to make him (and by extension, his entire race) some sort of aliens that just very closely resemble squirrels in a case of convergent evolution, or just have them be normal, mundane squirrel people and Toby is just a dork.

I'm also considering his outfit being considered a bit odd by his friends and those around him, as a sort of running joke--on occasion someone might comment on it when he's just out of earshot, but nobody actually has the nerve to just ask him, "why does it look like you're wearing the love-child of a 1990s tracksuit and Mickey Mouse's shorts?!"
It's one of life's great mysteries...
