Friend of mine from the military told a story about a lance corporal (I believe; it's been a while, so the rank might be different) who thought he was the big dog on campus, and ordered the cooks to make him special stuff. The cooks hated him and one time he pushed them too far, so they laced his mug of coffee with ipecac and imodium. He didn't leave the bathroom all day. You do *not* mess with army cooks. XD
This is a nice page. It really clears the air.
Especially coming so soon on the heels of the more emotionally heavy pages. Love Star's face in the last panel!
BTW, I've noticed something interesting throughout this comic. Even though Star claims not to be very fond of children, almost every kid who meets Star seems to take a liking to her almost immediately. She may not like kids, but kids seem to like her!

Yeah it's odd this is exactly what happens to me. I really freak out around kids but that seems to give off a signal for kids to flock to me. Kinda like how I'm scared of spiders so spiders always seek me out. I always get out in charge of looking after the kids if I'm anywhere where there are children I guess it's because I'm a podgy young looking woman so sorta have this responsible babysitter/unthreatening look to me...at a guess?
That's probably it TBH. Kids seem to gravitate to people who dont patronize them. Same thing happens with me. I work with kids who have some behavioral issues with school and just... despise teachers and school. But they enjoy being at school with me (even though I'm technically their teacher, shhh don't tell). I'm positive its because I treat them like a friend instead of a student. That goes a long way for sure.
Lol, same here. Kids make me feel all awkward and I'm like, just stay over there... WHY ARE YOU GETTING CLOSER!?
I guess for me, when it comes to people I just listen and it doesn't matter their age or anything really (this is why fennecs have big ears). I don't think a lot of kids are used to actually being listened to and when you treat them with respect they're just like oh my God this adult is really cool.
That and I'm also podgy and very unthreatening. Plus I don't have a very deep voice so it doesn't scare the kids lol. My little brother is 7 years younger than me and his voice is like two octaves deeper LOL. I'm like dude, how is your voice so deep?

I have the exact opposite appearance and I don't like people in general but for some unimaginable reason people like me. Actually I think the only people I DO like are kids. XD kids still have that oblivious innocence that I think we all lose as we grow up. I think it's wonderful that they can just enjoy life and be happy in there own little imagination worlds. I have like 12 nieces and nephews and im always the one on babysitting duty at family gatherings cause I actually prefer their company to the adults. XD
Maybe it's because you don't give off the "unapproachable 'perfect' adult" vibe, so they feel more inclined to approach you?
Well, I can't actually make assumptions there, I dunno how you be with real folks, but a lotta kids end up stuck with adults who refuse to appear human around them for the sake of being "role models" or whatever, so I imagine someone who actually shows more relatable emotions is a sign they're okay?
Just a hunch from a dummy draggo, anyhow.
As for spiders I got no idea I think that's just bad luck LOL
