Seems a bit non sensical to use one camera view to represent how the whole area is doing as it is a six block radius take over, and the fact that the person who visited Chaz, was only there for the afternoon is suspect. Do they know that armed guards dont patrol at night, or did they stay longer and omit the areas night life? further more what about concealed carry. If you wanted to put an air on that everything is a "no gun" zone is put away the larger armaments and pocket your pistol.
While fox news is biased, its not just right wing news groups that say the CHAZ/CHOP is a failed project and not the, as one of my favorite independent journos described, Hippie Dippie love fest it was proclaimed to be. Right now, it should be dispanded so that things can get sorted out and any attacked parties assisted, but it has to end, or things are going to get worse.

That is all pure circumventory conjecture, presented without source or accompanying evidence. The onus is on you to provide verfiable instances of the situations you're spitballing.
While I consider the CHAZ a strange situation, the right wing media leapt on it immediately, spreading the exact same misinformation and speculation that you're parroting, in order to inflame people like yourself into vouching in favour of using military force against peaceful protestors.

Oh, you value the lives of some of your fellow human beings, but only if their skin is of a certain color, right?
You linked a tweet from a SWEDISH NATIONALIST, self professed. You then linked a Tim Pool video, a well known far rightist, whose comments are filled with rabid fascists, such as this comment that got, as of accessing the video today, near 600 upvotes, from Lordpoison67: "Sorry, Tim, you don't negotiate with terrorists you exterminate them.", a comment to which FondOfMeLobster, likely a fan of Lobster Daddy Jordan Peterson, said "Yeah there should be a new legal law that allows all commies to be shot on sight, no more negotiating just get rid of them as fast as possible they are all a lost cause brainwashed into infinity"
You're a fucking fash.

All lives, man, all lives.
The tweets I pulled were filled with live camera footage or personal videos, if you didn't take the commentary from the tweet to the grave and just examined the video to see what was going on, you might understand why I find this autonomous zone to be a wash.
denigrating Tim or Jordan with comments from their videos is about as milk toast a claim as the former is. I could most likely find similar comments of the opposite spectrum from videos that fully support the movement that started this whole debacle, except, oh wait, they most likely will have the comment section closed, so you don't get to see those extremists. you only get to see the worst of the right, the left has no one similar to that, absolutely flawless.
If the movement did not stir so much derision, or cause so much destruction and chaos, I would more than likely be out in one of those protests as well (after covid had subsided at least, but we don't talk about that do we?), but they do, so I don't and I have to condemn the movement because of it. which sucks
Cause the idea of Black Lives Matter is a good one

What would the left have? Communists? Socialists? Utterly incomparable to fascists. CHAZ causes no chaos or destruction. Nor are the protests. They are the result of the chaos and destruction wrought by the police and the far right, which you are a member of, since all lives is a far right talking point. It was a far right murderer who did a drive by shooting at the CHAZ when it first formed that forced the CHAZ to arm itself.
You're a coward to not support the protests because of all the bullshit narrative and propaganda spewing out of the fascist far right. I have no respect for people like you, who ought to be looked down upon into the fucking dirt.
Take your head out of your ass and out of the far right media. Explore left wing media that defends the CHAZ and the protests. You'll see that most of the violence is instigated by the cops and by agent provocateurs paid for by the cops.

I'm also not denigrating Peterson or Drool with the comments from their videos. I don't need to do that, because their OWN words and actions indict them. I am denigrating YOU as a fascist in disguise, hiding your power level, from the comments on their videos, because fascists, LIKE YOU, LOVE these two guys, since they give so much cover to fascist rhetoric and help spread fascist talking points into the general public.
You like that word a lot don't you? say it enough times and it'll become true ye?
the fact you see communism and socialism as incomparable to fascism speaks volumes of your hypocrisy.
Oh I know there are decent protests out there, which is why I said the idea was good, but the movement has far out stretched its bounds and has caused riots and defaced statues, beyond those that could even be considered controversial, getting co-opted by the far-left and making whatever common ground to be found putrid with police brutality and mob violence.
https://youtu.be/VnCfiDAEVKE?t=87 I'd guess this is the one you are referring to? cause from the way the car jerks and slows down, it looks like the guy was trying to avoid hitting anyone, and it only got to the point of gun fire when the "protestors" started assaulting his car, one of them actually reaching into the car and what appears to be punching the driver.
No, I'm deciding where my battles are, and out in the street where people are shooting and killing each other, and mobs of people of are calling outliers who don't join in fascist is not where my battle is.
I would not say the same to you as doing so is a simple insult that gets no one no where.
And I would argue the opposite to you as well, since the violence is getting instigated by both the police and far-left radicals. it takes the full picture to see the right path dude.
That may be your opinion of me, but you are wrong, if listening to someone with an idea different then yours makes someone far-right, then I suppose it's not long till all the democrats, no matter how much they give, will become fascists as well.
Have a good day.

Please kindly take a boat ride to DPRK. they have the sort of thing you're craving.
I personally would rather not wish upon my fellow human being the endless pain and fear that has been caused by our police.
I'm honestly confused as to why you'd come and try and push this point on the comments section of an art piece depicting peaceful protest and kindly asking for those meant to serve the public trust to not bring weapons of war against the very people they swore to be the aegis to.
There are places to go to have an honest and open dialogue on this situation and present your arguments. This is clearly not one of them.

You're a young buck and you'll learn better in time, so I'll cut you some slack. Take it from a retired military vet; cops should absolutely NOT have that sort of power. If you think its bad now, it would be ten times worse if they were militarized. Police don't get paid shit, so they're not doing the job for the money. And it's the extremely rare few that do the job out of some sense of duty, honor, or tradition. A lot of cops are high-school bullies and military discharges that only want the power and authority that comes with being a cop.
"But its only a few bad apples!" I hear you say. People that use that phrase conveniently forget the rest of the saying; "One bad apple SPOILS THE BUNCH". There are cops that are horribly corrupt and commit crimes and there are the cops that don't directly commit said crimes but cover for the ones that do. And then there are the ones that just don't say anything or turn their head away when they see the shit happening. Am I saying there absolutely aren't any good cops? Nah, there ARE indeed a few good cops out there. But the second that they try to bring any of the rot to light, charges get dropped, investigations get closed, the unions protect the corrupt and the good cop gets shunned and ignored by their "brothers", if not worse.

Not specific courses, just in general. "Training" can be a simple as someone with more than half a brain telling you how to properly utilize common sense. As for specific personal experience in training, I was a member of my last ship's Security Force Training Team (and Force Protection Training Team and Combat Systems Training Team and a couple others, you get the point). There were very few "off-site" training courses we sent our guys to other than this one specialty course our VBSS (Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure) team went to once. Most of our training was in-house, but extremely thorough and in accordance with DoD regs regarding escalation of force, rules of engagement, etc. And none of it was some super-expensive training course instructed by Seal Team Six or GSG-9 or Chuck Norris or some other BS like some police departments would like to 'brag' about, with their personnel attending only "the best of the best of the best, sir! With honors!"
It's sadly gotta be more than that. Chokeholds were already banned in the cities where people were choked to death by cops. They just don't hold themselves accountable. We need Internal affairs to be a completely separate agency from police and enforce a special prosecutor in all police involved violence cases.
Thank you for calmly explaining your rationale here, Loki. That being said, feeding capital to police organizations and convincing them to be profitable so they can afford military grade equipment really doesn't seem like a strategy in defense of the people that live in this country. As is, we already build military munitions and maintain a standing army that could probably effectively wage war with the rest of planet earth and not sweat it.
Even if the police ARE buying these sorts of weapons and equipment 'just in case, y'know?', it mentally primes you to want to USE these pieces of equipment. That'd be like buying a switch lite JUST for gaming in case your power goes out; you'd be more willing to find exceptions to that rule or do things to incite it like messing with your breaker box just to mess with your new toy in the situation it's meant for.

that is very fair and true, however, I haven't really seen that equipment being used in a capacity that people are really against... most of these issues have been started by either pistols or choke holds. you do have a solid point though, and I do agree that it may not be the smartest idea to give them access to military grade items.
U.S. regional Police have massive budgets compared to other public services and don't have good results to show for it. The overblown budgets that they're provided are largely at the behest of unscrupulous police union action. Police have little incentive to follow good conduct from a financial perspective due to massive guaranteed pensions even with dismissal due to misconduct. (Also, many police who are dismissed from one precinct will simply get a job in another, repeating their misconduct)
Expanding budgets also create incentives for police departments to produce spurious results based on petty or obscure crimes in order to expand arrest numbers.
The reason to defund the police is simple- it is the disenfranchised that are the largest source of crime. The budget for policing should be reallocated over time to social initiatives such as education, mental wellbeing, etc. to reduce the number of disenfranchised people who resort to crime.

Defunding the police is more a movement based on the idea of redirecting funding away from law enforcement and towards projects that adress the underlying causes of unrest or things the police are called for, like mental health and social programs, stuff that the police are not trained to handle but have to do anyway cause we dumped the job on them. And frankly some cities could really do a lot with the money pumped into the police deparments. Seriously look up the budget for the NYPD. It makes up 6% of the ENTIRE BUDGET
Couple things on that. 1, most of the defunding efforts are focused on the fact that most of the cash is going towards unnessecary equipment and stuff that departments dont need, such as all this military equipment. I seriously question why some of the larger cities require a 2billion dollar budget for police, and i ABSOLUTELY dont know why any police force would need an MRAP.
2. There is also currently a massive overpolicing problem at the moment. numerous people are getting heavily fined or arrested for misdemeanors in certain cities where police are overfunded and its causing more of a strain on the community than any criminal activity.
3. Just because there would be less money flowing into the precints, that doesnt mean a complete cut to effectiveness. They could more propperly use those funds to focus on what is absolutely nessecary to make sure they do their jobs right. Especially as you divert those funds to things that could handle things the police are called for already. Take mental health. Every time there is someone on the street with a mental problem, cops are called. they are not trained for this. Sometimes it ends badly. What you do is you take the funding that would be spent by police dealing with this and send it to something like a social care facility with specialists who are properly trained. Your using the same money but giving it to people who can use it better while freeing up resources the cops can use elsewhere.

yeah, we could punch higher; get money out of politics and create seperation of state and profit, to which then those that govern could actually weild their power to try and stop stuff like privatising prisons and creating monetary incentive to hunt down and smite those that if nothing else need help rather than to be locked away.
but as you know we live in just like the world of deus ex the 1st game not the newer shitty ones.
it shows what happens when you let the super high-income people real, but nope no one listens to the punks, geeks, and outcast of people and now we are here..... becasue we was fooled to think our money mean something to the super high class people thinking we can vote them out with our money but they have become so big that we still put money into them in other ways we didn't think of

I'll keep it brief and then never respond to the extreme hatred this will bring me.
Defunding police will only make problems in these urban centers worse. Less training, less pay or cops to protect the populous and prevent crimes through patrols and such, the list can go on for several more points. And gee, I wonder what cities all this police brutality stems from. According to Washington Post, in an attempt to debunk Trump, only proved him 15% wrong in top 20 cities with the most crime. 17 were Democrat run, one Republican and two Independent. In their per 10,000 adjusted chart, 19 were Democrat run and one was Independent. Correlational isn't guaranteed causation, but when even Washington Post does this, the trends seem to appear that Democrat policies tend to cause a less favorable police treatment of citizens.
You never see a cop stop a mugging or stop a corner store from being robbed on camera. Doesn't make for sensationalized news the media can use to get that rage bait click from everyone.
Defunding will, in all likelihood, make problems worse. Reform is what the USA was built upon. The Civil War was fought over because of reform. Civil Rights was fought over and reforms took place. This country is built on reform, and everyone of these people say reform has never and will never work. Reforms have worked. And were even working even if however slow. Remember Ferguson? Those departments went under reform and those reforms were starting to come in to play when the virus struck. Reform was being made, however slowly. When these riots broke out, the Ferguson department was vandalized and all that good stuff the bad faith media continues promoting. I believe Trump signed something recently that included banning the use of "choke holds." I believe the more proper term to use is Sleeper instead, as the goal is to knock you unconscious for a short time to put the handcuffs on. It can be fatal. But hey, look at Trump, doing something, issuing some kind of reform. At least trump is doing something.

Just to respond to one part of your comment, because it's important to note, the reason you don't see videos of cops stopping muggings or robberies in progress is because it almost never happens. Police stopping violent crimes in progress is exceptionally rare. As far as I know there aren't any studies about this (though there was one out of Syracuse which claims that only 10% of what the police do would be traditionally classified as "police work"), but I would encourage you to talk with some police officers and ask them how many violent crimes they've personally stopped. According to the one's I've talked to, almost none. The only interactions I, or anybody I've ever met, as the result of a crime have been reporting it hours after it occured. Only about half of murders in most of the US get solved, only 2% about of reported rapes result in convictions. We give the police almost unlimited power and money and they're completely unable to stop crimes or bring criminals to justice. The only thing cops are consistently good at is harassing and murdering black kids.
For you who think this is about a black man. Explain why they tore down statues of people who ended slavery and beat black business owners and killed black cops ect ect. Oh and if you live in california by chance go have a look at how the state assembly voted to remove Civil Rights provision 209. 58 dems 1 repub and 1 inde voted to remove 209.
I am for police reform if it needs it based on the stats not people shouting but defunding is not for discussion. I shouldn't have to explain this but to defund is not to lower funds its to remove 100% of funds or abolish.
Definition: prevent from continuing to receive funds

That's not even correct.
""Defund the police" is an American slogan that supports divesting funds from police departments and reallocating them to non-policing forms of public safety and community support, such as social services, youth services, housing, education, and other community resources. Activists who use the phrase may do so with varying intentions; some seek modest reductions, while others argue for full defunding as a step toward the abolition of contemporary police services." -- Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defund_the_police
(And please don't anybody jump on me for "only" linking to Wikipedia. I did it for simplicity's sake. I can find you plenty of other evidence, for example, https://www.brookings.edu/blog/fixg.....it-have-merit/ Just because the right-wing media is claiming everybody saying "defund the police" want to abolish the police completely does not mean it's true.)

OK, that's fair, I can't disagree with you there. It *is* misleading and probably does not show the greatest PR skills. :)
But I still think it's weird that conservatives complain so much about the very idea of defunding the police, when they've been defunding education the same way -- and for much worse reasons -- for years and that never touched off anything like the same level of hysteria.

Conservatives moderates liberals libertarians, pretty much any group not for the idea of ACAB or letting the rioters control the “safety” of their respective towns are against that idea and are viewing it under the definition and the few cities that have abolished their police. Even if its some or most that are not against abolishment the vocal ones are what we see including our mayors and the like.
I couldnt comment on who has been defunding education off hand, but personally I am all for education reform and reintroducing old ideas like mandatory workshop and cooking life skills as core classes. Which neither the Left or Right seem to be calling for.

Merely pointing out this isn't a thought for just conservatives like postvixen seems to want to imply. Would love to know what you perceive as a strawman instead of just posting a definition with no context. ACAB and rioters are different from actual non-violent protesters and they have different goals. Sadly some of our leaders are in the camp of the ACAB sect and rioters not the non-violent protesters. The movement is soured by their existence and the media and leaders showering those two objectively vile groups with praise. BLM should weed out the ACAB and rioters from their movement and we saw one such man do so as video showed him tearing down the CHAZ barricades.
Well you let me know how killing and beating other black people, black businesses, tearing down statues of people who ended slavery goes for you then. Thanks for letting me know the movement is welcoming of terrorists then.

Calling them "neo nazi's" without proof video or otherwise doesn't mean anything especially since Nazi has lost all meaning this day and age.
No most statues are not racist edifices I'm sure you don't know enough history of the statues to even have an informed opinion on that.
Terrorists and freedom fighters are separated by what they attack. Terrorists attack the people including those they claim they are trying to help and Freedom fighters attack the government itself.
It is fairly obvious which is being done here. I'm sure you don't know the actual statistics behind police brutality either or watch officer and police 24/7 body and car cams which have helped taken the brutality down to its lowest point in 2019.
If you really want to condone violence against my country though enjoy it while it lasts.

Really? I agree that totally removing all police services and not replacing them with anything would be a terrible idea, but if you look at my links above, you'll see that's really not what most people are referring to by "defund the police." If you look at, say, most of the Northern European countries, you'll see that they spend a hell of a lot less money on military-grade toys for their police than we do and they still have much better law-enforcement outcomes in general.
I’m personally in the camp that they shouldn’t be defunded, but more regulated. Like saying X% of their budget goes to training and nothing else. If you defund them, then the already pretty shit pay they get is gonna get worse. And the only people who stay are gonna be doing it for other reasons, typically the worse cops are going to remain while average and some good cops leave. Defunding them isn’t the answer, and will just make it worse.
Though I’m not trying to insult you or your morals, we all know there is a problem. We all want to solve it, we just have different ideas on that method.

Breonna Taylor wasn't commiting any crimes when she was killed by police back in March. She was a 26-year old EMT who was asleep in her bed when police performed a no-knock raid at her house. The cops were in plain clothes and didn't once say that they were police. Breonna's boyfriend shot at them, thinking they were intruders breaking-and-entering, and they fired back. The cops had the wrong address; the house they were supposed to raid was over 10 MILES away, and then they grossly lied on the official incident report.

Julian Alexander, a 20-year old man in Anaheim California, thought he heard a strange noise outside his home one night and stepped outside with a broom. Cops, who were searching the area for burglery suspects, upon noticing Alexander step outside his home, immediately opened fire without identifying themselves. They shot him multiple times in the chest and killed him. What crime did he commit?
Marcial Cax-Puluc, a day-laborer in Green Mountain Georgia, was murdered by a sheriff's deputy who tried to stage a murder-robbery of his wife and claimed to have killed the robber. Instead, the deputy was himself found guilty of murdering both his wife Yancey and Cax-Puluc. WHat crime Did Marcial commit? Trimming the hedges?
Kathryn Johnston was a 92-year old woman living in Atlanta Georgia. Undercover cops conducted a no-knock raid on her home. When they entered the home, they didn't announce that they were police. Kathryn fired her legally-owned handgun at them once and the shot went over their heads and they returned fire and killed her. The cops fired 39 shots, of which only 5 or 6 actually hit her. There were numerous injuries sustained by police, but all were attributed to friendly-fire. Before leaving the home, one of the officers planted marijuana in the house after the shooting. Later investigations found that the paperwork stating that drugs were present at Johnston's house, which had been the basis for the raid, had been falsified. The cops also tried to submit cocaine as evidence, claiming that they had bought it at Johnston's house, but they later admitted that they had been lying the entire time. Three officers were tried for manslaughter and other charges surrounding falsification and were sentenced to ten, six, and five years.
What was Kathryn's crime? Defending her home late at night from unknown intruders?

The list is VERY long, I'd suggest you go educate yourself kiddo.

Ah yeah, and let's not forget former sheriff's deputy Zachary Wester of Jackson County Florida, who was pulling over random drivers and planting drugs in their vehicles and arresting them for it. He was eventually caught and subsequently arrested and charged with numerous counts of racketeering, official misconduct, false imprisonment, fabricating evidence and possession of a controlled substance, perjury, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
119 (ONE HUNDRED NINETEEN) people arrested by Wester were exonerated of felony drug charges but for most of them, their lives were already ruined. Many lost their jobs which they didn't get back. Several lost their homes and possessions from lack of payment from being in prison, and one poor bastard lost custody of his child WHICH HE HAS NOT GOTTEN BACK!
All of these lives ruined, and why? So one cop can buff up his arrest record? And that happened not far from where I live in Florida. I just think, "What if that had happened to me?" I'm retired military and currently a DOD contractor with a DOD security clearance. My entire career in the Navy, I've worked in a very specialized field with very specialized equipment, all of which require a security clearance just to look at much less work on or operate. If that had happened to me, I would have lost my job and my clearance and never would have had a chance to work in the same field again. All because of some crooked-ass cop.
I should note that the person that brought all of this to light was NOT anyone in the police department. It was a prosecutor who was forced to resign afterward. She basically lost all trust in law enforcement and claims the corruption ran all the way through the state prosecutors office where she was harassed and ridiculed for criticizing how these cases were dealt with. Everyone in the department, including supervisors, as well as the DA’s office had to know what was going on the whole time. There is no way one officer could have that many drug arrests, from simple traffic stops none the less, and not raise flags. He manipulated body cam footage whenever he could and no one noticed? Hundreds of complaints were filed against him and no one noticed? No one bothered to check his body cam footage ever? This is not a one man job. This is not one bad apple. That entire department and DA’s office is full of crooks and liars and they all deserve to be in jail.

Actually they do inconvienience me more that just being disapointed by an artist I admire.
I come from a cop family, and folks from these groups want my father at least without a job, and at most dead in the street. They would see my family without a provider, and without their father and husband.
One bad officer doesn't make every other officer bad, and it's a shame to watch people fall to this mob mentality of violence, and rage when compassion and reform would have been a better way to remember George Floyd after he lost his life unfairly.
I pity folks that give into this dogma of hate, so yes, I'll gladly have a world where I can face people with compassion, understanding, level headedness, and kinky desires for squeaky things.
Have a nice day.

"One bad officer doesn't make every other officer bad"
When not a single damned one of those 'good' officers comes forward to say anything about the bad ones, they're just as guilty. I bet you like to say "Its just one or two bad apples", don't you? You know the rest of the saying? "One bad apple spoils the bunch". There are cops that are horribly corrupt and commit crimes and there are the cops that don't directly commit said crimes but cover for the ones that do. And then there are the ones that just don't say anything or turn their head away when they see the shit happening.
Am I saying there absolutely aren't any good cops? Nah, there are a few good cops out there. But the second that they try to bring any of the rot to light, charges get dropped, investigations get closed, the unions protect the corrupt and the good cop gets shunned and ignored by their "brothers", if not worse. So the great majority of them just try to fly under the radar of the corrupt ones by not saying anything, thus becoming just as guilty.

Or it might go down because the funding taken away from the police, which is going mostly to things they do not ever need to do their duties, like military-level gear, could be much better served in programs that help people attain options for survival that aren't just doing crime because you have absolutely no way to actually get a proper job that pays anything approaching a liveable wage.
APCs, grenade launchers, the like. Those are things that police in many places in america actually have, or had at some point. That alone should be a gigantic red flag that something is amiss.
There is no need for gear like that when their job is to be police, to protect and deal with crime, not a military force to be deployed and all too often have loads of training courses essentially teaching them to be hyper-vigilant and always expect anyone they meet to want to kill them at any time for no reason at all, that anyone not police is a potential enemy to be cautious of.
That sort of stress and paranoia is only going to make things worse when combined with powerhungry bullies and the like too.

APC's are for high intense hostage situations, "grenade launchers" fire tear gas rounds, "high powered assault rifles" are nothing more than AR-15's. The gangs have some serious firepower that you might not even know about.
Yes I agree that the police needs to reform, but defunding will only cause more chaos.

All of the gear listed in the above two comments as well as many other examples of military kit were acquired by normal police departments after 9/11 for use in the case of terrorist attacks. But police regularly use said military kit against ordinary, unarmed civilians. If you don't consider that gross misconduct, then you're out of your gourd.
This is from Wikipedia: Certain lachrymatory agents, most notably tear gas, are often used by police to force compliance.[8] In some countries (e.g., Finland, Australia, and United States), another common substance is mace. The self-defense weapon form of mace is based on pepper spray which comes in small spray cans. Versions including CS are manufactured for police use.[22] Xylyl bromide, CN and CS are the oldest of these agents. CS is the most widely used. CN has the most recorded toxicity.
CS tear gas isn't as powerful as you might think it is. And the Geneva Convention only applies to warfare.
