Dread Pirate Joey
My half of a trade with 
joeykhimerakat, featuring... well, Joey Khimera Kat! Here Joey is a pirate, but don't be discouraged. He is quite the genial scalawag, and very skilled with a pencil - well worth checking out his sketches if you haven't all ready! And definitely take a peek at the awesome/hilarious one he did for me.
Originally I had planned on our intrepid adventure sailing with clear blue skies, but when I learned his markings were a ruddy red, I knew I had to veer off course toward a sunset scene. It afforded me an opportunity to follow
t-kay's suggestion and use lots of lighting layers, and to great effect. I'm really happy with how this turned out - hope you guys are too!

Thank you so much! I'm really proud of this, too, and I appreciate you peeking inside - the thumbnail was probably too obscure a pirate reference, since only a handful of people have taken a look :S Oh well!
