Catrobies have some pretty sharp teeth despite their diet consisting primarily of plants and vegetables.

Evolutionarily, there could be several reasons why they have sharp teeth despite herbivore diets.
They could have evolved to eat meat, but then just stopped (like pandas)
They could be used to break open eggs (like birds), if they hatch out of eggs. We haven't found out how they reproduce.
They could be used for mating (Stimulation, or attraction)
They could be used for vocalizing, allowing them to make loud whistling or hissing sounds without needing to learn a technique.
Or, they could be an evolutionary fluke that just happened, and never got in the way enough to disappear out of the gene pool.
