Another character from Mabinogi, my elf Luath the 'Mad'
(Since in elf society there are no last names, others just call her 'Luath the Mad', or 'Luath the Insane' )

Luath like other elves doesn't know who her parents are, since the entire village raised her as a massive family community. When she was young, she was trained in the ways of the desert, as all elves are, and found her niche was the longbow and hunting. She was so gifted with the bow in fact, that she was sent into war despite her young age, society hoping that her amazing sniping ability and speed would help with the battles.
She was trained by the generals as a Special Operative Scout, her job was to go into the giant towns and gather information, lay traps, or kill discretely. However because of her young age she was easily unnerved, and ended up being spotted by guards while trying to infiltrate the heart of Vales. They chased her down, able to move better in the snow than the spindly legged little elfling, and beat her mercilessly. Once giant even caught her across the face with his axe, splitting open her face.
They took her as a prisoner of war, and she was treated as a rare beast, kept in a cage and shown off in the village. She was rarely fed and never received medicinal care, causing her wounds to heal improperly. She was blinded by scar tissue in her eyes, and her legs were weakened by damaged muscle on her back thighs and lower back from sexual abuse by soldiers and wealthier giants who wanted a taste of something exotic.
During one one such bought of rape, Luath managed to twist around and tear into the giant's face, allowing her to scramble away. Noise from soldiers coming after her steered her out of the town and across the frozen Reus river into Barba.
While wandering around blindly in Barba she came into an altercation with a pair of unicorn twins, Maithllthe and Soineanta. After a rather one sided fight, Maith chose not to kill the small creature in admiration of her animalistic will to live, and 'adopted' the elf. Under the unicorn's care she became canabalistic, as the only food she ate was the bodies of those Maith killed to feed on herself (Maithllthe is a man eating unicorn, and a complete sadist) and grew to favor this food source. She has become so bonded with maith that if she isn't physically touching some part of the unicorn, she will mentally shut down and curl into a ball. (Soi can comfort her mildly when Maith goes out on her own for short periods but she is still under extreme stress until she is back in contact with Maith)
