The other day I saw Strype's Fire Dance :: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/46371340/ :: on the 'popular' section on the front page, and it made me a bit jealous.
But more than that, it made me miss the older days when things I draw are not porn.
The days when a scene/pose pop into my head and I just draw it without thinking of profitability or trying to please my fans. (Don't worry, I already went through this phase looong ago and know how to detect it when it happens again)
Yasunori Mitsuda's work playing in the background (kiЯitɘ :: get it here while it's still on sharedzilla ::http://grisser.livejournal.com/167313.html) I went to work on this piece. I was trying to get that feeling of longing and nostalgia... I hope it doesn't come out too emo. Don't you hate those works that's suppose to be really expressive, but just ended up juvenile and, well, emo? Yeah I do too :)
Originally the background is suppose to be outdoor night sky obscured by Industrial silhouettes and the only thing shown is the moon and 'something' near or on the moon, but I didn't have enough mental material to whip up a believable industrial scene. Didn't want a research to put a cramp on my sketch, I pushed on and drew a dilapidated building scene instead. Hehe. Oh well :3
It's Grisser and his lil pal. Something happened there a long time ago that he has not forget.
edit: add lighting to floor. lol

I met you on #bearden in what.. 1997 or so and it's been awhile since we last sat down and chatted, but I wanted to let ya know- This is the style of art that I enjoy the most from you. Remember those really great pics with grizz piloting the random mecha? ^_~ *chuckles* Those were the artworks from a long gone time when you lived in California and your mom's restraunt.. They were really imaginative and had a life of their own! In short, they were from the heart.. just like this image. I'd love to see more *hugs*
psht, that thing is a deviation of the day? lawl deviantart. You could kick that thing all over the town if you sat down and just 'did' it yo. Most of that is cheap photoshop smudge effects and lazy secondary lighting with an airbrush tool. /yawn.
