Here's another digitally colored piece I didn't get around to uploading before - it's Gretta Spellbrew, brewing up some spells! (Or maybe she's cooking some good food.) My excuse for not uploading sooner was not so much harsh self-criticism, but indecision. I legit was stuck on what color to make her skin.
I wanted to avoid "Wicked Witch" green, mostly for originality's sake. Heck, I even tried it just to see what it looked like, and...yeah, it just wasn't Gretta. Not to mention I don't want every human(oid) female character I come up with to be green, lol. Godzina's my green gal.
For a while, I ended up making her, not a caucasian white, but more of a "goth" white. Something "neutral". Then for the hell of it, I tried a shade of brown, and that's when the indecision struck. But after some time passed - and maybe some things learned - I felt I needed to be more direct, not neutral. After all, I intentionally made her plus-size for the purpose of supporting body positivity. And really, I honestly think her having darker skin is more...HER.
(And since I brought an elephant into the room on the subject of skin color, I'll spit it out - while the protests are not directly behind my creative choice here, I truly believe Black lives matter. If you have a problem with that, you know where the door is. Good day.)
