that's a good question, for me i'd say it was a happy accident. in his original portrayal he had a toothy mouth that curves downward at its center, and wing-like fins. here i wanted to make his jaw stand out from the rest of the head unlike the original model greninja, but what ended up happening having to combine those two things was the thing you see here. i decided to keep the look since i like drawing pokemon that have a little deviation from the og model, and i'm glad you pointed it out
