Behold Proteus! Warrior and King of his people, yet to be named.
In the coming months I will flesh out the history of our famous finned fellow.
This is the ink work, lined out today as a matter of fact and I'm quite pleased with the results, though I might change the background. I will be coloring him and post that here soon. (Perhaps a non-PG version?) ;)
I've had Proteus on my mind for months, but now he has surfaced and there's no turning back. I can envision him as a really fantastic super hero...or a really bad villain, I'm not sure which way to go with him yet. :)
Many thanks to
Karerease for his input and critique of my original pencil and anatomy.
Koh-I-Noor pens on Canson drawing paper over original line work. (Yes I'm getting brave and do my inking over original pencils now). Wooot! :D

Your astute observations are fantastic to me and you picked out something that no one else has! Bravo! Those "Swimming Goggles" are an amusing twist, dear dragon, for Proteus can walk on land and live in air for a time...but to see, he needs goggles to compensate his vision in a world that has no water and too much light! Yeeehaww! Most excellent of you.
Hey there, yes! This is Proteus, an early version. There are some full color comic-book covers of him back in the old gallery. Also, strange (or perhaps not so strange) I've been working on a new comic cover with my fishfellow today. I wonder just where I got the inspiration for that? Hmmmm? ;) He's got an updated look and he' got a thick chest and tight abs and nothing but a pair of swimming trunks on him. I will release the ink soon, or maybe wait until I have the full color completed. You might get a sneak peek. ;)
