David was Gavin's brother and lost his career due to his lack of behavior and attendance. He lived with his son, Gabriel, but they didn't seem to get along with each other very well.

In one episode, Gavin thought of coming to check up on his brother, as soon as he came, he realized that David's house is condemned from lack of hygiene and not paying his bills since the last six months. Gavin asked David if he need some help but David said no in a rude attitude. As soon as David went out to go bowling with his friends, Gabriel told Gavin that he didn't want to stay with David anymore. David has been beaten up Gabriel abusively and Gabriel even told Gavin that David once fought his ex-wife domestically and kicked her out.
Meanwhile, David came to the bowling alley and saw his ex-wife and he and her began to fight again, but this time he brought a gun and so did her ex in order to protect herself. Luckily, one of the cashiere called 911, but as the police arrived, David already killed his ex-wife and then himself.

David's Ex: Dave, if you kill me, then your lives will be more miserable than before.
David: My life is miserable thanks to you taking away my groovy store and everything. Besides, my mind is clear now that my brother's here.
David's Ex: Dave please, don't let me have to shoot you!
David's last words: See you in hell, little Miss O'Canada.

After the incidence, Gavin adopted Gabriel as his son.
