Deep fried and dangerously delicious from the kitchens of otaconxix

What with making the deep fried Twinkies, I tried making some more deep fried goodies, next on the list was deep fried Kool-Aid which I originally tried making into little balls... and they were massive failures. Then  dragonofdarkness13 suggested to make it like funnel cake, which turned out to be much better.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

-Box of instant pancake mix
-1 pack of your favorite Kool-Aid flavor (I used black cherry)
-1 ziplock bag
-1 48 FL. OZ. of pure vegetable oil (I've heard using peanut oil is even better)
-powdered sugar
-1 boiling pan

STEP 1:

Pour the entire bottle of oil into the boiling pan. Heat oil on high. (I didn't have a thermometer, so I just determined when the oil was hot by flicking drops of water at the oil. It will pop a little when ready.)

STEP 2:

While the oil is heating up make your pancake batter. Use 2 cups of mix and 1 cup of water. Make sure that the batter is thick like pudding but not too thick like dough. Add more mix and/or water accordingly. When you get the batter just right, add the Kool-Aid packet. Stir until completely absorbed.

STEP 3:

When the batter is ready, place it inside the ziplock bag and force it to one corner. Cut a small hole in the bags corner to make a cheap piping bag. When the oil is heated, set to medium and then squeeze the bag of batter into the oil in a circular pattern. The dough will cook fast, it only needs about 30 seconds at the most. Fish it out with straining spoon.

STEP 4:

Dash with preferred amount of powdered sugar and consume.
