Honestly, I was unpleasant to do this. Because I'm afraid of horses. I'm serious. If you watched the Brothers Grimm, where the horse ate a little girl, then you understand what I mean. I usually prefer to make less realistic horses. But once asked, I have no right to refuse.
Made in Photoshop. Any interesting ideas for edits? Well, I hope they are good.

Ah, that movie. Yeah, not my favourite, but mostly for minor reasons. If you're horrified of the movie, then stay away from the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. They make the movie look cute by comparison. As for the scene you're thinking of, the one with the little girl and the horse, it's honestly just some questionable CGI. Expertly done by 2005 standards, but it just looks awkward now. Kind of like the '83 version of Cujo eating a cat.
I used to be absolutely horrified of Gmork, the werewolf creature from Neverending Story, to the point where I had panic attacks when it was on screen. A decade or so later, I could watch it without problems because of how questionable the scene, or really the entire movie, looked effects-wise. Sometimes, movie-related fears can be conquered by time. Or, rather, the aging quality of movie magic.

The only exception for horror scenes for me come from anime. Aside from Berserk, which I did get over when I watched it again, there's several anime series that still freak me out. Blood+, Blood C, Attack on Titan (especially when it first came out), Corpse Party: Tortured Souls, Elfen Lied, Parasyte: The Maxim, and Terra Formars all have some absolutely gripping and terrifying scenes. Hoo, boy, I still can't watch most of them. The only series I can still watch and enjoy without being terrified anymore is Claymore. I love that series. I read it before it became an anime, so maybe that's why it doesn't affect me.
