~General Description~
While not the largest of Charr, Raikiri's size is still notable and is still quite larger than most other races on average. Her frame is built, as are her muscular arms which no doubt have toiled and strained under physical labor and danced in the cadence of battle many times over. Despite being a bit lax in nature, she keeps her body maintained, as well as the machinations she builds; her mane, fur and claws are well kempt, despite being occasionally stained with oil and grease. Her fiery, molten gaze can match even the hottest of forges in the heat of battle, as can her ferocity. Raikiri's joy for combat is only surpassed by her love for tinkering, creating, and mending. She serves the Iron Legion dutifully as a front-line engineer, despite currently being counted among the gladia and scrappers.
Rusted scrap, spare parts, and broken equipment is all considered to be like gold to Raikiri. She can be seen traveling with a small iron chest strapped to her back. Various tools and kits are strapped to the outside of the chest neatly and securely. While a chest may draw the eyes of an unruly thief, the 'hoard' locked away inside that chest would shatter the thief's dreams; spare parts, scrap and the occasional ingot is the treasure trove that a would-be thief would reap. Even though there is a metaphorical iron target strapped to her back, her large built frame acts as a deterrent to any riff-raff that she may encounter on her travels. If size alone doesn't deter a potential conflict, the sizeable hammer-of-a-wrench would. The heavy wrench was made with a dual purpose in mind and has been tweaked, upgraded, repaired, and customized by Raikiri herself. It brandishes the nicks, wear, and tear of battles against both beast and machine. Whirring and whizzing about her person are three small gyros; one yellow, one blue, and one orange. Lastly upon her face and the back of her neck rests a blackened steel welder's mask, which has seen its fair share of use as well.
Raikiri was raised to be a silent and deadly Ash Legion spy, however her fascination with scrap and junk at an early age quickly caught the attention of the Iron Legion. Raikiri was quick to learn new things, and through trial and error, quickly learned from her mistakes and improved upon them. Improvisation and resourcefulness was her strong suit, as was strategy. This led her down the path of the engineer, a path at which she excelled at. From her first warband to her last, she was constantly asked for advice, and was held in high regard to all those that had the pleasure of working with her; both in her warband and outside it.
Raikiri loves helping those in need, regardless of race. Any chance she is able to put her skills to use, she does. Her passion spreads beyond just her craft, though, and she cares deeply for those close to her. This, and the loss of three warbands, however, has crippled her ability to allow others to form close relations with her, no matter how kind and true their intentions may be. Raikiri is only willing to keep others at arm's length, and despite the Iron Legion's orders for her to find and join a fourth warband, the emotional trauma of losing three families, one right after the other, has resulted in insubordinate behavior. This has given the Iron Legion no other choice but to deem her a Scrapper and a Gladium.
Raikiri still aids the Iron Legion when possible out of loyalty, taking and receiving contracts for work. However since 1330AE, she has been wandering the land, showing her good will towards all races who need her, and can put her skills to use. Though she may seemingly travel alone to the average passer-by, the three small, homemade gyros give her more company than most would understand. While most would see them simply as contraptions, Raikiri sees them as family. Indeed, she crafted each one painstakingly and carefully, with a warband in mind for each. A gyro for each family lost, so that they never leave her side, and she never has to say farewell. While mortal life may be short, and even more so when faced with war and adversity, machines can be repaired and built anew -- something Raikiri, despite only having walked the land 27 years thus far, has learned all too well. Even if her gyros find the bitter sting of defeat in combat, she can mend them...something she couldn't do for previous warbands. Despite needing mending herself, she knows and understands that there are others in Tyria that share similar pain. She believes that so long as she can still lift her wrench, she can lift their spirits as well. One person, one machine, one life at a time.
This is the full version of my Charr, Raikiri, done by the exceedingly talented
Eisenheim
I decided to add a "short" description of her for fun, as I have quite a bit more written down about her. I thought I'd share, just in case anyone was interested!
**Note. Years blow by in GW2. I probably won't adjust her age constantly on this page, however, she'll be the appropriate age based on the Living World story and such!**
I know he worked his butt off on this, and I think it really shows. Thank you so much Eisenheim, you're great. If you like what you see here, please check him out and consider supporting him in any way possible. He does amazing work, and he's an extremely kind guy, and an absolute pleasure to work with.
Lastly, but not least, thank you ArenaNet for Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2, and for the Charr (and all the races for that matter). The lore you have created for each is mind boggling and interesting, and I for one completely appreciate you all for making such a wonderful, vibrant, and living world. (And game!)
