This reminds me of all the great music they'd pack into Sega Genesis games.
-one of the reasons i preferred the Genesis over the SNES
this would easily sound at home in games such as Ranger X, Sub-Terrania, or possibly even a sonic game. (some of my favorites)
hell, this might even fit for a space themed Street Fighter level. but i never played that as much as i did Mortal Kombat... (I still lust for days when im able to play that game with someone who has skills... every time i play someone, i whoop their ass and scare them off, xD)
the closest thing i could get to something sounding like this is a Yamaha S-YXG50 soft synth (it's been discontinued for years) you might be able to find it online somewhere, but you obviously have better software AND hardware.

Thanks so much for your comment, good sir...!
Yes! I used the Yamaha S-YXG50 Softsynth some time ago under Win98 on my old Pentium II x3 I really liked it compared to the SoundCanvas GS default soundset... I later tried Wingroove, but always wished a middle point between both softsynths x3

I first discovered soft synths by accident one day:
on this page: http://erpman1.tripod.com/download.html (way down near the bottom)
first time i heard the S-YXG100 i noted it still sounded a little generic in some spots, but if tweaked could be made to sound very realistic.
the S-YXG50 is apparently its little brother, -and the only one that they bothered to make comparable with windows XP
the Casio SW-10 on that page had a pretty good soundset too, but you had to install some weird asian progam called lana (never figured out what it was for) and the SW-10 was installed as a bonus. i later uninstalled Lana and kept the Synth and it still worked great. (Especally when playing DOOM, or Age of Empires, or Sim City 2000 or any of those neat old 90's games that spit out Midi music )
that said, i'd often switch to the FM synth when playing games, just for nostalgia xD
i never had a chance to try the other ones there. but maybe one day i will.
(whenever i find my windows 98 cd and get my old compaq running)
im a bit of a packrat, and every time i find an old computer, even if it sucks, or doesnt work, if i dont keep it, i at least rip out: the hard disks, ram, network card, and sound card. and over the years i've collected some really crazy sound cards.
one computer, though old, was a treasuretrove:
An IBM PS/2 from around 1993, probably had a 386 chip, no co-processor
but with it came: A Soundblaster 2.0 from 1991, an original IBM oval PS/2 mouse that still works flawlessly, (though it tracks slow) and best of all, TWO model M keyboards (with 12 foot springy cords), and another pair of M2 space savers. it was a nerds dream come true!
