_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Wulfgar is trying to find a job in the field he studied, but isnโt having success. He misses his partner Riko who has been away due to the global pandemic. Heโs having a hard time dealing with this and the terrible issues plaguing the world. My IRL Macintosh Classic II makes a cameo! Will someone come and save his day?
This story touches upon the racial tensions of the world and how it affects Wulfgar and his species. In addition, most importantly, BLACK LIVES MATTER!!! The fight for racial justice and equality for ALL. The fight against racism and darkness.
My IRL Macintosh Classic II makes a cameo in this story and is the computer I used to write this!

Typing on his keyboard, Wulfgar pondered how he could improve his resume. It had been a few years since he graduated college, but he was still having a difficult time finding a job in his field. A retail job kept his finances in check for those years, but at this point it wasn't enough. Unfortunate circumstances and a global pandemic left him without a job and only meager sources of income.
Wulfgar sighed, "Why won't they hire me?"
He looked at the flashing curser on the screen, staring into an abyss of failure and hopelessness. He felt alone.
Wulfgar's partner, Riko, was currently on Gaarak and couldn't come home due to the interplanetary quarantine established at the start of the pandemic. Four months without his lover put Wulfgar in a difficult situation. His longing for companionship and his feelings of failure only amplified with the increasing duration of their separation.
Maybe I should do something else to get my mind off of this, he thought.
Sitting in his office, he turned himself to his old Macintosh Classic II. Turning it on brought him satisfaction as he had previously managed to restore the device to working order after replacing its notorious leaking capacitors. Upon booting the machine, he opened its word processor and began to type out his thoughts. His thought on his life and the world around him. His thoughts of how humans have oppressed his species as well as their own. He jots down his thoughts on the devastation of diplomatic ties between Earth and Gaarak, due to the hatred and stupidity of the current American Administration. He longed for peace between the Gaar and Humans, but at this point there was no point. The hatred of racism was even more infectious and prevalent than the plague itself. Entrenched in society and brought back to the forefront by a demonic, egotistical, arrogant, fascist, racist, orange asshole of a president. He knew the Wolf-folk (Gaar) of Earth were never really accepted into human society. Just as humans of color were treated as being sub-human, the Gaar were treated as animals. While some were able to buy their freedom with wealth, humans still despise most and this president despised them to the fullest.
Wulfgar sighed once again at the screen before him. A feeling of hopelessness washed away any sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that he felt. He realized that typing out his thoughts only made him more depressed.
Wulfgar was tired of being depressed. He worked hard to get himself into college. He fought tooth and nail to resist the hatred of his human adopted family. He combated the feelings of abandonment he suffered from being given up by his parents as a pup. He only wanted to be a part of an accepting world which would accept him for who he was and not what they wanted him to be. He longed for happiness to return to his life. He longed for Riko's return.
Glancing to the window above the Macintosh, Wulfgar could see the pale blue sky of a warm summer's day. Being a holiday weekend, he knew people were (hopefully) staying at home and having a (hopefully safe, with social distancing) good time while he was stranded home alone. Even if there hadn't been a stay at home order, he didn't have many friends, so there wasn't anyone around to talk or hang out with. He always was a shy wolf who found it difficult to make new friends and the pandemic only made this more apparent. He missed his true friend, his partner.
If only Riko could come home... thought the wolf.
Wulfgar glanced over at his communicator, hoping Riko sent him a message, but nothing. In fact, he hadn't received a message from him in a couple days. It wasn't unusual for Riko to be busy, so Wulfgar was used to it. However, only now was the lack of contact driving a stake into his heart. Fears and uncertainties filled it to the brim.
He picked up his communicator and placed a call to Riko. No answer.
He tried again... No answer.
Sobbing and paws on his face, Wulfgar cried to himself in the desolate loneliness of his office. A while later, Wulfgar, trying to compose himself, shut down the Macintosh and resumed his job search.
Over the years, Wulfgar kept a detailed record of every application he submitted; to whom, the position, date applied. Thousands of applications submitted and a few interviews later with nothing to show for it. His retail job was, before the pandemic, keeping him afloat, but it wasn't enough. He fought hard to graduate college, but no one would hire him in his field. No matter what he did, the result remained the same and today was no different.
Regardless, Wulfgar was not going to give up. Riko always encouraged him fight as hard as he could to find the job of his dreams. Not fall into the status quo or to get stuck at a menial job, but to strive for a better life for oneself. Wulfgar could hear the words of his lover surround him and uplift his heart. He knew someday his dream job would come and that soon he would once again be in Riko's loving muscular arms. Wulfgar was able to spend the rest of the day productively and in a good mood.
The day had passed and the sun was low in the sky. The pale blue sky turned into a warm orange glow as the cool bay breezes signaled the impending arrival of the night. The full Buck Moon rose from the east, as the sun dipped below the horizon. It was a clear night with no clouds to be seen. Normally this time of year, the marine layer would smother the light of the far distant suns, rendering their ancient history and wonder. Tonight, however, the stars fought brilliantly against the scourge of the city lights below.
Wulfgar finished his dinner and laid himself out on his hammock. Gazing up at the sky above him, he confidently assured himself that Riko was out there among the stars.
He will be home soon, Wulfgar thought.
The day had been warm and the cool night air was a great relief to this furry canine being. Swinging there in his hammock, Wulfgar smiled and his mind began to drift among the cosmos and his eyes began to wane.
DING DONG
Wulfgar arose with a startle.
He could clearly hear the doorbell going off in the house.
A delivery this late? Who could it be? Thought the wolf.
Slowly, the grey wolf made his way back inside and to the front to see what was going on. He cautiously peeked through the front window and his heart stopped. He raced to the door and opened it.
It was Riko. Riko was home.
"Hey babe," Riko said in his deep rumbling wolfish voice.
Wulfgar couldn't wait any longer and rushed forward and wrapped his arms around the stud wolf.
"I missed you! I love you so much!" Wulfgar cried as he couldn't contain the tears of joy now streaming down the fur of his muzzle.
"Missed you too Wulfgar. I know we've been apart for quite some time now, but you don't have to worry anymore. I'm home now." Riko responded.
"That is why you couldn't answer you calls! You were on your way home!" exclaimed Wulfgar.
"Yup. I saw that you called, but I was in the middle of signing a quarantine containment agreement and I could not answer you then. And of course, I wanted to surprise you too," said Riko.
"Quarantine agreement?" asked Wulfgar.
"Yup. Means I'm not going anywhere soon! I was only allowed to come back to Earth as long as I signed an agreement that I could not leave the planet until the Alliance Health Organization declares that the pandemic is under control and is no longer a threat to the rest of the Alliance worlds," explained the studly wolf. "I've been watching what has happened here on Earth the last few months and knew that I had to come home to make sure that you are safe and not alone."
The two wolves gazed into each other's eyes and embraced in the moonlit night. Riko carried his partner upstairs where they proceeded to make love to one another.
Two male wolves, in love, in a crazy world. A world that is hateful and dangerous, yet at the same time, is a place where love such as this can flourish. A world where two gay wolves can be in love and at the same time, their right to love each other could be taken away at any minute. A world where people are discriminated by the color of their skin, yet is a world where people stand up for their rights and fight back against Hate. A world where there are good-hearted people who believe that BLACK LIVES MATTER and fight for the common good for ALL people and species, fighting against the darkness of racism and oppression.
The cool night breeze gently flowed through the bedroom window and brushed against the fur of the two loving canines. Holding each other in their arms, the two wolves knew that they could overcome any obstacle that stands in their way. Together, they could fight for a better future.
