Irillian Shield-Snouts are an agile tree-dwelling species with a head protected by a hard outer shell. They are herbivorous, surprisingly docile and quite social creatures that make great pets as a result of the primary motivation being anything remotely shaped like a spherical fruit.
This particular specimen is named 'Bonks' on account of the Shield-Snout's endearing (but quite dangerous) tendency to headbutt as a show of affection. Given their powerful necks and hard skulls, this can be quite alarming to the unprepared visitor. Bonks in particular also enjoys roaming about starships by various maintenance passageways and air ducts, much to the disapproval of the crew.
Additional details:
1. The Shield-Snouts have an avian-like beak with tooth-like protrusions in place of teeth, which are regularly worn by their natural activities.
2. Shield-Snouts aren't very bright. They'll do just about anything for a fruit, and one must be careful not to introduce any toys that resemble their food, as they'll attempt to eat it just the same.
3. They are quite optimistic creatures. Bonks in particular has attempted to consume a watermelon whole, despite the fact that there wasn't even a remote chance of it fitting in his mouth. He ended up smashing it and getting watermelon EVERYWHERE.
