``I know,'' I said to myself. ``I'll draw something from a 1960s Popeye cartoon. That'll be a nice change of pace. And it'll be a quick drawing, too, a refreshing way to get a piece done without sinking an hour or more into it!'' So that's why I copied part of one frame of the Jack Kinney-produced Hamburger Fishing, reviewed in detail here: https://nebushumor.wordpress.com/20.....urger-fishing/ ... in this retelling of The Fisherman and His Wife, Wimpy catches Olive Oyl who's a cow-princess and things go pretty well, considering. Anyway then I thought, hey, a spot of color would really help Olive Oyl's hooves stand out, and then you know, her blouse is so distinctively red it'd be silly not to do that and before you know it I was wrestling with ArtRage because I can not figure out how to get something that looks like a nearly-dry roller brushed it on, which is why the clouds are the worst part of this scene. I think it's my first UPA-influenced background, though, which was fun to attempt.
