From Ken Pick: my favorite character from his WebFed stories, this is Khrysha Zorrai, the Hangvixen, a Thalendri sukeshai, that is, a Thalendri consecrated to kill if need be without permanently staining their essence. Khrysha has had a hard life, losing everyone she ever cared about, and is convinced that she is 'Death in a Vixen's Body'. As such she drives everyone who tries to get close to her away, for their sake and hers.

Here we see her remembering one of the few people who's ever affected her, a Skreeln (alien terror birds) named D'taka. It was her job to execute him for committing a murder. She tried to talk him into accepting extradition instead, but he refused to live with dishonor. So they talked, and then she hanged him, killing him quickly and cleanly, and every 19th of Summer she remembers and mourns in her way.
