And zoom, three weeks go by. Welcome to the life of the working stiff. :P
As the song says, "You get to own this shit."
And I do! Here's the next pass at the fabulous :icon:"DeWiwi"'s ultra-nifty clock-obsessed bunny. More textures and PS fun. Can't wait to start tying all this goop together. Color scheme's not finalized. Gotta make 'em pop.

i still miss la! you're kinda expected to loathe it if you live there; there's stuff to hate (especially if you're stuck on the periphery of the entertainment industry rather than in it) but it's just so fucking gorgeous.
i vowed not to return to orange after a job that involved six and a half hours of bus commute every day down from santa monica; get your butt up out of the desert area and into the coastal desert microclime - it's so much nicer!
hopefully moving to seattle this summer will fill a lot of my los angeles nostalgia; my visits up there have suggested that some of my la nostalgia is actually west coast nostalgia...

When I think of trying to navigate the Orange Crush in public transportation my head goes flat. I can't imagine what a trial that must have been. I hope the money was good. The hours must have been insane. A few of my buddies live in Santa Monica. One of 'em was also co-worker and for the past two years did the commute by car. That was bad enough. Public transport, down here? Everything's too goddamn spread out.
There are things I like about where I am. I shouldn't slam it completely. But Santa Monica--man that's a tempting locale. Good food, good people, buildings older than the 1990s--as opposed to being in the land where Republicans come to nest. It's like living inside a WalMart compared to LA or San Diego.
Like you, I came down here for the work. A lot of video-game companies have chosen to nest here, too, God only knows why. Maybe the Irvine company is a front for Satan and he's got their souls? I don't plan to stay longer than I have to. When it's time to really pull up the stakes and roll I'll be heading where you're going: back to the Northwest. I miss the rain.
Whereabouts in Seattle do you expect to land? And how would you characterize the Two Coasts, now that you've lived on both?

the money wasn't good, but it was a job. in animation. my first one. i was living the dream! sort of.
we don't know exactly where we'll end up in seattle. hopefully more in the city proper than out in the far-flung burbs. eventually, if all goes well, there will be a sprawling domicile of some sort or another shared with various friends…
the east coast is brown. and grey. and cramped and tiny. the west coast has a lot more room for color, and takes advantage of space. i mean, boston has next to no green anywhere except in these tiny little parks, that mostly don't have any trees. there are people who love the east coast, who clamor to live in it… and i'll be absolutely delighted to make room for them!
also, it snows here. every damn winter. i have discovered that i hate snow.

Those first few gigs (or years of gigs) are often less than...well, less than awesome. Yay, gruntwork.
Check out the Beacon Hill area of Seattle. You might be able to find some good stuffs there. Or the northern end of MLK way. Go too far down Rainier Valley and it's not quite so happy a place. But! Capitol Hill, right 'round Yesler, Georgetown, and Beacon Hill all offer ready access to the International District (and, by extension, downtown Seattle).
I've only been to Boston once; same for Baltimore. Both seemed to be thriving cities with a lot to offer. But there's the summer humidity, and I'm a polar bear. Ugh. That's the best thing about the endless sun down here, it's dry most of the time, not humid. Ugh, humidity. Seattle's humid but nothing like the East Coast or South. Hell, Portland's more humid than Seattle, on average.
Snow's most fun when you don't have to deal with it. When it's more of a prize, a treat. As soon as you have to shovel the stuff, the shine does kinda wear off.

o0o! I saw them all! man sorry it took me forever to reply back! xAx but boy these series you experimented with that drawing are hell of trippy! not to mention the colors you used and texture. I really love them all! 8D Thanks for collabing with me! 8) it was real neat seeing the different design of background you do!
Hey Most Patient Sweetbean! And you have been crazy-patient with me. I've got one or two more passes before I'm gonna call this "finished"; when it's all fork-able I'll send you the full-size file via Yousendit. I can do that with the inbetweens too, if you want to see how I'm doing this.
It's been a pleasure, woman, truly it has. I'm a sickly critter right now but once I'm all non-sick-imicated I will get this wrestled to the mat once and for all!
