My main "sona", everything I am, and everything I'm not, all rolled up into one long-tailed package.
My old ref was pretty terrible by modern standards so I decided to re-do it!
I'll try to write up some info soon, for now, have the old description:

Full name: Dapper A. Longtail (Don't ask what the A is, nobody actually knows)
Gender: Male
Age: About 23
D.O.B: 4/2/1997
Place of birth: Somewhere in east Texas
Height: Approximately 11 inches
WIngspan: Approximately 1 foot and 7 inches.

-Appearance-

Dapper is mostly white, with dark grayish brown wings, the tops of them having white with a hint of red. His tail is long, hence his last name, with black at the tips. He is larger than a normal scissor-tailed flycatcher, possibly attributed to an abundance of food and a completely different diet. In addition, his wings have evolved, allowing him to do some tasks with them as if they were hands. He also sports two standard passerine (perching bird) feet, though he walks and hops more often than most birds.

Personality:
Dapper is typically a friendly type, though not necessarily outgoing. He cares for those near him, yet would be willing to claw someone's eyes out if they became a true threat to the well beings of loved ones. He is quite adventurous in the sense he loves to travel and try new foods, though not adventurous in the sense that he'd immediately try an activity or do something completely life changing in a heartbeat. Dapper is big on human culture, being severely attached to all aspects of it, including living in civilization. He has bits of those instinct on his side, so he could survive in the wild, but it would be a last resort. He never shows it, but he enjoys hugs. He can also switch from optimistic to pessimistic surprisingly quick if things got bad enough.
Dapper likes equality, especially as he's one of a kind where he's from. He has to fight for human-level rights constantly, and is loyal to his beliefs.
He is overall proud of his state, his land, his kind, and those close to him, and he tries not to be biased, not always succeeding.

Bio:
Dapper was hatched, just like any other of his kind, somewhere in or around Houston, Texas, but was immediately thrown into humanity, his parents being the only known talking birds, the pioneers. At least that's what his parents say about his origins. They lived a modestly luxurious life, fighting for rights just as Dapper does, also becoming celebrities of sorts. Constant news interviews, a handful of documentaries, and general publicity surrounded them. Dapper's dad even starred in the 1998 mel brooks parody "Edward Scissortail". The magnificent talking Flycatchers, as the general public called them. It took time to become more than second class citizens, his parents teaching him from a young age to cherish the gift of being an intelligent bird. Dapper quickly learned english, completely forgetting whatever native language of chirping his species spoke. The name Dapper was given to him early on, after he wore a top hat in a documentary once, which would eventually become a meme, by the way. Dapper was raised just like a human, evolving that way too. His lifespan would exceed that of any known bird, as if he were human. Dapper asked his parents countless times to explain why he was this way, as they obviously knew, which led to an existential crisis when they wouldn't answer, and Dapper left at quite a young age. Publicity followed him, although his parents were more well known still. See, when you were one of only three known completely intelligent, talking birds, you didn't go out of style or get replaced. Dapper would never stop trying to discover his origins, which is what got him to start traveling. His relationship with his parents is barely there, as they never talk, and they never give an answer to Dapper, though to this day they are quite well known. Dapper lives in his own in a somewhat normal house, every aspect of his existence was human. Besides his ability to fly. However, he's only had an insect once in his life.
