Apex is a fanged carnivorous draft-sized equine, belonging to  hariman in the Aukateverse. He is a strong warrior and very dignified individual, and one does not jump on him and ride off like a pony. He is known to buck unwanted company off into whatever muddy, stinky mess is close to hoof. In this case, Mark M'Rega needs fast transportation, and is offering a bri, ah, peace offering in exchange for the indignity. Peppermints fresh from Tielle's kitchen. Might work.
