This random little creature I decided to name Noxious. He started as a doodle that I was coloring because I was bored.. and, I kind of got intrigued by him and decided to make him into a species. It grew from there. lol I guess I'll call it a choke.
Chokes live in swamps or bogs, hence their long legs and thin bodies. Because they do not have eyes, they use echo location to hunt and otherwise find their way around. To catch their prey, they produce a noxious gas (which they can create by processing sulphuric gases and the acidic swamp water) that serves to choke and immobilize their prey, which they then usually proceed to swallow whole or, for larger prey, tear into large chunks. The blade on the end of their tails are made of strong ivory, like elephant tusks, and are naturally razor sharp on the straight edge. It is mostly used for defense against predators and in battles against one another, the wounds can be extensive. Also, a choke's blade is always the same color as it's underbelly. Noxious is a juvenile, therefore a little smaller than a mature adult would be. Note that females tend to be cooler colors, where males are warmer, and their scales are smooth like snakeskin.
Yeah.. I should stop making stories out of my doodles. XP
On a sidenote, though, the background was a lot of fun to do. ^_^
