I've heard people call themselves Odinist. Unfortunately, at least according to many of the Asatruar I've spoken too, they're all too often mixed in with the 'Folkish Asatru' bunch, I.e., pagan Nazi fanboys.

seriously, you facts - you must get them straight.

asatru = a person who believes in/worships the old norse gods (any of them, including odin... considering Odin was the god-king of the asa)

pagan = a VERY generic term for anyone adhering to any old indo-european non-christian religion (so asatru could be called pagans, so could wickans, and celtic druids)

nazi stuff = thats a fascist political ideology. has jack shit to do with religion.

You ought to hunt down a copy of the book BLACK SUN; it's about modern occult/lunatic fringe Nazism, and it has a chapter discussing Nordic racial paganism.

and i am aware that some nazi elements had strong occult leanings, IIRC it was thought up as a means to justify nazi ideology by finding it some kind of old pagan origin, instead of early 1900's politics and fascism

As for Nazi occultism, the author of Black Sun also wrote a book covering that aspect of Nazism that makes for a fascinating and sometimes disturbing read. I just wish I could remember his name to recommend him better!

meh, its just a question of phrasing it. it would be like someone saying that being a terrorist is a big part of islam. what would be much more fitting is saying that some terrorists use their religion as an excuse... or in this case neo-nazis to justify their dickery
