Inspired by Caudle's Apto-April (based on aptophilia, or an affinity to characters using their unique body features, like tails, ears, trunks, etc... in convenient or inconvenient ways). In this case very convenient for this group as a massive monster takes an equally massive breath, to be able to cling a tail made for holding onto, with appropriate tail-accessories. If one fellow slips, thankfully there's another tail to hang onto in the case of an emergency.
