This is a little gift doodle for a friend who did a lot of writing on this culture from his own experiences growing up on the wind river reservation and his feedback. I appreciate his enthusiasm for the setting! He seems to appreciate the doodle and i wish I had some extra time to really flesh it out.

Laumer are what were once bison, though behave differently. These creatures are solitary, territorial herbivores with a nesting season in the autumn where they gather in massive herds before laying their eggs and hibernating through the winter. The best time to hunt them is the early spring and summer as that's before they group up in herds. They are incredibly dangerous animals to hunt and are easiest to try and overwhelm with a mix of spear thrusts and atlatl darts.
You don't want to try and egg raid their nests, as waking up a mother from hibernation is a quick track ot getting gored or getting your back broken via it's powerful tail. So hunters tend to target adults.
Laumer have good meat and are valued for their thick scalehides which make for good winter clothing, on top of that the armored plates are very popular in both construction and as armor for a warparty to use when fighting other tribes or the local sivilao.
