Materials:
- x14 Jackeroo Flexible Fiberglass Tent Poles (7.9mm diameter; 70cm when not joined with metal tube things) - bought at K-mart
- x17 metal tube thingies (comes with the fiberglass poles) - ditto
- x3 rolls of twine; x1 Zenith Polypropylene sportsman cord; x2 stretchy bungie cords (comes with the fiberglass poles) - former is bought from Bunnings in the Rope aisle
- x1 roll of duct-tape - Bought at Bunnings
- x1 4mm metal wire coated in this weird soft-plastic (can't find anything other than blue tint), strung in appropriate fistmele distance, roughly 10" - Bought in chinatown
Performance:
- 55" unstrung; 53" strung - Pretty compact for someone my size, might need to do a thorough search of small cars (i.e. Nissan Micra) with enough room for it.
- No glue used, thus it can be disassembled.
- Draw weight feels slightly heavy, but still not heavy enough to require leather gloves. Possibly 20-30lb at ~28".
- String snap feels okay.
- Stringing it wasn't a huge hassle. This is a worry as it's a sign that it might lack power.
- Range, arrow flight speed, accuracy, etc. still unknown, needs testing in a bigger field.
Notes:
It feels sturdy, so for now the results have been satisfying so far. The build design is still a bit lackluster, as it's based on my very first attempt in fletching. Using Bunnings-supplied bamboo sticks became a huge chore, so i resorted to something a little modern.
I still need:
- Stronger shafts for the arrows. Pine may be light, but it's brittle as fuck.
- Arrowheads
- At least 24 arrows
- Leather vambraces
- Arrow quiver
