This is the only custom I've ever done. Because I love but also because, well...
I have no credible basis for ever developing a "closed species" because I am not popular. I've been here for 4 years, have over 400 submissions but less than 150 watchers, most of my posts get 30 views, while my DeviantArt posts of the same content live in single-digit viewcounts forever. At my current rate, it will be over 2 years from now before I exceed 10,000 views on this page.
Don't get me wrong - I have made some excellent friends here, and that is infinitely more valuable to me than whatever could come from a larger viewership.
Suffice to say, publicly offering to customize a bunch of my weird imaginary animal people to an arena full of empty chairs and cricket noises would probably rub my AvPD the wrong way. XD

I have discord but I'm on it a grand total of once a month maybe, it's much easier to communicate through notes for me. Takes away the stress of feeling like I have to reply instantly on an IM platform. I'll shoot ya a note~
I myself have a closed species, but more for the fact that the species isn't fully fleshed out yet. Once it has more background and more visual aids (which I sorely need to work on) I believe we're going to open it to be a semi-closed species, as in you have to ask our permission to make one, stuff like that.
