And now, from the same world as https://www.furaffinity.net/view/37176686/ here's Caitlyn, also from the pen of
michael345 .
Dragonslayer Knights formed the core of the resistance against the dragons' tyranny, and a grateful world rewarded them with rulership. Stern, disciplined, but fair (coughcough) they have welded the various peoples into a cohesive government united amongst all the Settled Lands.
Caitlyn attained membership in the Knights from their first open-recruitment programme. Magical talent is rare (outside of dragons where it's universal) and the orders were beginning to suffer. So they cast about the various royal families looking for members.
Then they went to the merchant houses.
Then, the minstrels and performers.
Then, the craftfolk.
Finally, when they got to the serfs, they found Caitlyn. Yes, Caitlyn comes from the most menial of groups. The constant drive to prove herself makes her cold, aloof, and a stickler for detail. She's also a Runic Caster, one of the rarest kinds of caster. Caitlyn's magic takes time and an attention to detail since it involves carving, inking or painting runes on things and then infusing them with magic. There was a heated debate as to whether she should even be permitted in the field considering how valuable her magic is to the creation of magic items but her superior wouldn't hear of it. As a result, Caitlyn's outfitted with full mithral plate and an adamantine blade, equipment fit for a general.
Needless to say, she doesn't have any friends; those who don't resent her for the favoritism shown her dislike her for her low-born roots. Caitlyn would so desperately like to belong, she'd be willing to do anything.
She's about to get her wish. After a fashion.
