Well actually I found out from a friend of mine, she said Invader Zim was canceled soon because the guy that created it made some really dark series about homicide or something? And they didn't want kids looking up his name and finding those.
At least that's what I heard, but who knows. 8D

Hell if its that so much trouble for Nick to have Invader Zim on there They should have moved it to Adult swim or something XD
Man for what I wouldnt do to have that back on the air with new ep's >:
I loved Invader Zim
Random Fact: Invader Zim Still sells shit load of merchandise

I had a friend that was super into them in High School, and I totally hated them. Well I mean they weren't that terrible, but they just seemed so preachy and full of themselves. OooooOoo I'm dark and scary, no one understands my torment, but it's kinda funny too! JUST LIKE LIFE KIDS! Though I suppose I never gave it a fair shake. But the way certain types of kids clustered around it was just a little annoying.
Pretty sure that's not exactly why it got canned. There were a number of factors at work, not least of which that, post 9/11, it probably dawned on someone that Zim was, ineptitude aside, an INTERGALACTIC TERRORIST (Panic now). They had to re-do the Door to Door episode because in the original run, when Zim is using his goggle-devices to show folks what will happen to the world if they don't buy the fund raiser candy, there are shots of the Irken fleet destroying several land marks, the Statue of Liberty among them. That had to go. :s
So yeah. I'm sure his portfolio was on the table before the show got going.

Ah, I know I'm a bit behind on the conversation, but he made that long before the show... And its equally dark spinoff, Squee, actually got him the job. It was cancelled because Nick thought the content of the show itself was too dark (characters die in two episodes, the art direction is generally freaky, portrays humanity as idiots, etc). It's also worth noting that another person who worked on the show created the comic Lenore. It's from the same publisher as Jonny the Homicidal Maniac, but it's about a little dead girl and a vampire trapped in her dolly. She accidentally kills a lot of people.
The first is close to it. Keeping your interest separate from work is normal, but the furries that have fun and enjoy the community while knowing they wouldn't defend it are cowardly and greedy to me. That won't make the situation any better for all the other furries that share the same worries.
Aw, well, it's impressive you'd be so honest! Hopefully you won't have to run into any situations like that, though. X3 And hopefully no one would be so silly as to not hire a person for a job just because of some extracurricular porn drawing, but I guess those kinds of folks are out there.
I'm not sure what I would say unless I was actually in that situation, but I think it would be something like, " I'm sorry, but I will not answer any questions regarding my sexual activities, or lack there of. I assure you that my conduct will be nothing short of professional and will reflect the kind of positive image expected of a smuttcorp employee." Though if it was a really laid back sort of atmosphere I might be bold enough to say "Maybe. Why, do you?"
But as for honesty in the working world, well let me put it this way. I abruptly quit a shitty job I worked at for four years. My boss told me not to use him for a reference because of it, but because I didn't want to lie, I put them down on my work history. EVERY job I applied for turned me down, until, I stopped putting that job in my work history. It took me a while to get used to doing it, since I hate lying even over trivial things, but sometimes you just gottah stretch the truth.
Though this is a good question to consider, thanks for bringing it up hamy. owo

But yeah, basically asking someone about their sex life, sexual preference, etc, is kind of illegal. It depends on what the laws in your state are, and it might only really mean that they're not SUPPOSED to ask, but you might not be able to do anything legally if they DO ask. And even if you COULD litigate the situation, I'm sure you would have to have some kind of proof that it happened, or a lengthy investigation would have to be conducted, during which they might not find any evidence.
On the same token I'm sure your boss wouldn't tell you what he's fapping to when he's not at work. Or at work.

Haha, in a real situation, I know it wouldn't be something they should be asking, and aren't allowed to ask either. X3 But whenever I thought, if it was ever asked, that lying would just be messy and difficult. X3
As for pure honesty... eh. X3 That's not really what I was aiming for with this, but it's a good thing to know about when to use and all. If you worked somewhere for two weeks and got fired for stealing, it'd be dumb to have it on your resume. X3 So... with your old boss and job, while pretending 4 years worth of stuff didn't happen can be odd, I'd think the way you handled it was the better choice. :B

I just told employers that I stopped working so that I could concentrate on college, which I went to at the time. Additionally, all the skills that I learned at that job, I put down on another job, one of which my parents were the managers of. So their friend, my supervisor, just said I learned all of that stuff there. But now I have enough work history to rather knock that bad job off the map.
Oh yah. I remember hearing about a guy working at Disney getting fired over smutt, which could be one of the reasons why people worry about this so much. But according to an article someone linked me to, the employee had only just started working there, and during a lunch break, was jokingly discussing an idea for Disney porn of some kind, mimicking the voices of Disney characters and really getting outlandish about it. Unbeknown to him, some high ups were sitting at a nearby table.
I don't care who you work for, that kind of behavior is unacceptable in any work place, outside of the porn industry. Though I'm sure that's only one of many such stories that could cause people to be wary of drawing porn while in the art industry.

Haha, yeah, that's just a dumb thing to do. 8D And Disney already has had mascots doing inappropriate things with the costumes and stuff before - but people don't think of it as FURSUITERS GETTING FIRED. 8D If you do dumb things on the job, that's just what's gonna happen.
If I were ever asked if I had drawn furry porn I could honestly say no. Now if I were asked if I had written the porn that is furry, I'd be lying if I said no. I'd still say no though, because it's my word against theirs and nobody ever reads anything on the internet unless it's broken up into an amusing list or it has a lot of pictures around it. I'm really pretty safe
Yeah, this whole "omg this could ruin my life"... no, it can't. It's an unjustified fear in 99.999 percent of all cases and just serves to perpetrate the weird shame spiral people feel about being who they are.
I know-- I did a lot of stupid stuff for plausible deniable even though it wasn't that hard to figure out.

Dean Dodrill, is a Furry, known for drawing lots of bunny girls... He was the lead artist for Jazz Jackrabbit 2. XD
So Yeah.... I don't think getting into the gaming, video or art industry isn't that bad! ^_^
If they'd ask me, I'd just say something like: "I have drawn furry porn in the past, who hasn't at that age?"
Employer: "The last picture on your Furaffinity account was uploaded a week ago"
Me: "Oh.... does that mean I won't get the job?"
Employer: "Even better... I'll make sure you won't get a job FOR THE REST OF YOUR MISERABLE LIFE!!"
Me: "YAY!! A neverending holiday! =D" *flees*
But seriously, I don't think that'll be a problem... as long as they don't find porn outside of your portfolio! XD
Besides, nowadays I have to model boring interiors and people, like students (atleast with my last project at school) =P

HELLO UNEMPLOYMENT CHECKS <3
And I'd figure liking furry art and even naughty stuff would make someone an even better choice for furry-related company things! I mean, if you're gonna draw adorable bunnies all day, why not have it done by someone that would be doing it anyway? B-)

Whoooaaahhh! It's been awhile since I've been down a chain of uber commentary like this.... *Thud!*
Fantastic point, Oxnard! The old me, who first logged on to FA, would've been horrified by the concept of the above. But, now, I actually look forward to engaging in such a discussion if it should dare be brought up.
Legally, they can't ask that sort of thing. However, I think it would be fun to entertain it. After all, a lot of my newfound, written communication skills are a result of what I've done here. I also, like I'm sure others have, built a lot of self-confidence by becomming a part of this community.
A classic interviewing question is always, "Describe one of your weaknesses and/or a rough time you experienced and how you got over it." Well, I once felt totally worthless and, through good friends on here and in RL, I learned to overcome nearly all of them. *Raises a hand to the air* Oopa!

Haha, that's right. X3 Ideas and discussion-comics bring more of a crowd!
I'm glad it's not such a scary thing anymore. X3 Even if some people are really worried and paranoid about this sorta thing, once ya get kinda logical about it and realize companies aren't really allowed to discriminate, or don't think as much about "furry" as we might, it's a lot less stress to deal with! (:
And I'm glad you can be happier with yourself because of your time here too! :D Woop woop!

equal opportunity employer FTW!!
seriously though, corporate and the people that do hiring in ANY profession need to stop giving a shit about what their workers do off the job...if it doesnt interferer with the person's ability to get work done when they're on the job, then it really is of no consequence (though obviously if its something illegal then an exception can be made, but still...)
i imagine discrimination against people who draw porn, especially furry porn, is really high in the graphic design/animation industry though...that whole "protect the children" bullshit that has been used as a trojan horse to destroy a good chunk of our freedom of expression since Y2K lol i wonder if you can sue a company that refuses to hire you cuz you draw furry porn...after all, if they claim to be an "equal opportunity employer" then your furry porn shouldent matter right? :P would make an interesting court room drama =D

Hehe yeah. (: Everyone around me worries about it but I dunno if it's really too common! I know of you make it so employers can find your porn online than it might influence them, but I'm at a graphic design job and I don't think anyone here cares about what I draw, and wouldn't fire me for it if they knew. We're all adults. B-)
