Backstory :: Tacitus was born in a small band of wild mustangs living in the desert hills outside the town of Tumbleweed, where he lived until he was hardly a yearling before much of his herd was rounded up for the sake of local land development and sold at the local livestock market. He was barely 1 year old when he met his human Cara, the daughter of Irish immigrants who was working as a stable hand on a nearby ranch. There, he grew up under her care and the two have been inseparable ever since. He worked as a loyal ranch horse for a few years after she took him in, accompanying her around the ranch on night watches and when they had to move cattle. He was content with this simple life and enjoyed being the authority around the ranch. By the time he turned 4, they met a traveler the farm owners ended up taking on as another farm hand. It was then when he met a young filly named Reckless that came along with the new farmhand. In the time they stayed on the ranch, he grew a love/hate relationship with the filly. She was boisterous and mischievous, and he always wound up having to get her out of trouble and watching her back thanks to her careless demeanor. Despite all that, the two eventually became great friends thanks to the fact that their humans were constantly together.


Personality ::

Mature, level-headed and stern, Tacitus is the authority around the ranch. While he is generally calm and collected, he has a rather short fuse, is easily annoyed and his default mood is grumpy and sarcastic. He thinks on his feet, is quick witted and fiercely protective of those close to him. He has a cautious eye, always looking out for loved ones. He has an intense demeanor, often feeling like it's his responsibility to ensure the safety of his makeshift little 'herd'. Despite his serious personality, when he's in his comfort zone he can have moments where he allows himself to unwind and even act playfully. He is overall kind, and though he's impatient, he's understanding, wise and cares deeply for others.
