Soldier, Martial Artist
Some illustrations for a couple of the core classes of my RPG,
The soldier largely plays the role of a "fighter" of D&D fame, being the primary martial classes that relies on weapons more so then any casting abilities. Since this is a steampunk setting ranged soldiers are going to mainly rely on firearms unless otherwise stated to be a bow or crossbow. Even dedicated melee soldiers are encouraged to have some kind of sidearm so they can handle ranged attacks. Demolitionists can rely on explosives, grenades or rockets. Dragoons can take advantage of mounts, and Partisans can mix the soldier abilities with some stealth tactics.
The martial artist is the RPG's "monk" class, but is a broader category that is defined largely by unarmed attacks vs necessarily any Eastern mysticism. There is a "monk" subclass of course that comes with chi abilities and often requires a devotion of some kind to a monastery's code of ethics. A pugilist fights for sport and can include tight boxing moves and devastating grapples, as well as being a minor bard class since they are also entertainers. Finally a vigilante class favors some technology use and is themed towards using their skills to fight crime - or simply to fulfill personal vendetta.
Illustration also showcases a couple of the RPG's races, the Deinonychus-like Dromite as the soldier, and the bird-like Wan as the martial artist.
