So I saw someone who did the fave Pokemon Meme and I thought I should finish it. I actually started it almost a year ago, but I forgot about it. I may post the rough draft after I complete this mini series recently. <:3
So yeah, first on my list is Bug.
I never really noticed Bug types much. I see them mainly at the beginning of the Pokemon games(omit NGC ver.) But they are pretty cool. If I could have one bug type, it would be this one.
Caterpie #010 Bug
Its feet have suction cups designed to stick to any surface. It tenaciously climbs trees to forage.

It can't learn many moves and it is the first form of Butterfree. But that doesn't matter. If I could have one to pet, that would make me very happy. <:3 I think they are adorable.
Runner-Up Faves:
Mothim: I trained one and it is really awesome. I like its design and I think they are adorable also.
Nincada: When it evolves into Ninjask, you also get a Shedinja. Both of its evolutions are good. I like its mustache too.
Shuckle: It is cute and gooey. I like gooey creatures. It can also make berries into good drinks.

It depends really. Normally you wouldn't use a Caterpie unless it was the start of a adventure. By the time you get your first badge it is usually fully grown as a Butterfree. But yeah, teach Mr. Free the right moves and he could wipe out a Heracross. A Caterpie would stand little chance though.

He does have really high stats to be a Pokemon that has no pre-evolutionary forms.
You are right, Butterfree's defense is really low. But Heracross can't learn X-Scissor.
Heracross is also faster than Butterfree to so there is a slim chance of success on Butterfree's side.
He may be startled so it may "release a stench from the antennae on its head to repel" you. <:3
