The sequence of Seminole Sam having a bottle of spelling gnats for Beauregard was, wrote Walt Kelly, done entirely for the panel following this one: Churchy telling Beauregard that he should see a doctor, as he's got spots in front of his eyes. I am delighted that for once, I drew a Churchy La Femme that actually kind of looks like him, on purpose on everything. The bandage around Beauregard's nose could be better but, you know? I have struggled so mightily with making Churchy look like a turtle that I just don't care. I'm happy with this as it is.
