Napkin Sketch: Hatchetman BattleMech
I admit that I don't quite remember the main armament of this slow medium 'Mech. It was done at work when I had a very rare bout with free time.

Well, apparently you used your common sense, something the original designers didn't.
The original fluff from the TRO 3025 (3rd Edition) says that the second medium laser, among with two heat sinks, are installed in the hatchet itself! More interesting: the hatchet had no weight and required no additional space that time (the revised version lists the HTC-3F with only 11 heat sinks instead of 14, and the hatchet got it's official weight of 3 tons). Now if you reconsider that you cannot use the weapons on an arm used for a physical attack and that a crit against the hatchet breaks it (among with anything probably installed on it), your assumption was quite a good idea. =D

Hatchetman, Axeman, Nightsky...they're out there, but just not really that popular outside of urban combat or in the Solaris tournaments.
Although, I do like the Berserker, Dual Large Pulse Lasers, flame thrower, and a bigass axe on a fast assault chassis with MASC. On your ass before you can say 'can-opener'.
