I am honestly deeply touched and moved at the number of people who have taken to the Istrala species and wanted to create Istrala of their own. And a few of them have justifiably wondered if that was okay with me. As such, I wanted to give an unambiguous answer of yes. The Istrala are an open species and I both welcome and cherish any and all heartfelt fan creations I receive. If you wish to create an Istrala form for yourself, you are absolutely allowed to do so, so long as it's not sold for money and credit is given etc. etc.
I only have a couple of small guidelines I'd appreciate:
-I'd greatly prefer that they're not portrayed in a sexually-explicit way. They can have suggestive poses, but no open sexual content, please. In essence, if it needs a mature filter on DeviantArt or FurAffinity, I'd prefer you didn't make it. If you're unsure, feel free to ask. =)
-I'd definitely appreciate credit for the original Istrala concept by linking to my DeviantArt, FurAffinity, and/or Twitter.
The Istrala in general are a very flexible species due to their nature, and there are very few hard-and-fast rules for how they work. That said, I did want to cover the few things that are universal among ALL Istrala just to avoid ambiguity.
THESE ARE TRAITS SHARED BY EVERY SINGLE VARIATION OF ISTRALA:
-All Istrala are created by fusing a sapient being with an enyo; no exceptions. Someone can have the form and even the abilities of an Istrala, but if they're not created this way, they're not technically Istrala (the reason will become apparent in time).
-Istrala do not give live births or nurse their young. As a result, they never have nipples or navels. Breasts and feminine body shapes come from the Istrala's self-perception at the moment of their rebirth into their new form.
-All Istrala have the jewel-like "mood ring" eyes, which all use the same color scheme. Here's the quickie list:
Blue: Normal/content
Light blue/cyan: Happy or pleasantly surprised
Red: Angry
Red and glowing: "Bloodlust," AKA Demonic focus
Orange: Courage/defiance
Yellow: Fear
Purple: Sadness
Green: Emotional connection/love (not necessarily physical attraction)
Light pink: Embarrassment
Brownish-green: Weak/sickened
Black: Dead/Unconscious
-All Istrala stand digigrade
-Although the Istrala in Moonlight Angel appear to be predominantly evil, Istrala OCs are almost universally of a **GOOD** alignment.
-All Istrala tend to have larger, muscular builds. Even more heavyset ones tend to be bulky with muscle mass and no wasted weight
-All Istrala are aligned with demonic, arcane energy. They are batteries for demonic powers and are themselves demons.
-All Istrala have horns, wings, visible ears, and a tail. There can be several variations, but they're always there.
-Remember to capitalize Istrala; and that the plural form is still "Istrala."
Well, I hope that's it. Productivity is a bit slow due to some real-life stuff, but expect a new Moonlight Angel page relatively soon. After that, I'll probably knock out some more commissions. I'll keep you all posted. =)

I may not be the closest follower of your account (be it on here or DeviantArt), but I always did find myself gravitating towards your webcomic and its Istrala race! The latter especially is a really cool and interesting race, and I'm also glad to see lots of people making original Istrala characters, as well! Hell, I've even thought about doing it myself in the distant future, too! I did come up with an idea for a story taking place in the world of Moonlight Angel, after all! :)

You're welcome! I sadly won't be able to draw the character I had in mind since I'm no good at drawing, but I hope that when the story I had in mind finally comes out, I'll have described him the best I can manage! :)
Quick question, though: Is it alright if the story I'm making (or any other post, for that matter) be rated Mature for blood and gore, instead? Just curious, is all.

I mean, it could be useful for people to have a base if they need one and if they're not good at drawing. They can just edit the base to match what they want their characters to look, but they still have to credit you, and leave your signature on the base.

In the world of Moonlight Angel, the "holy-aligned" counterparts to the Istrala are the human paladins, who aren't as powerful individually, but have abilities that can keep the Istrala in check.
The title "Moonlight Angel" has significance in this regard as well, as the Istrala are effectively the demonic equivalent of angels. I can't say for sure if there are literal angels in the world of Moonlight Angel right now (that would spoil the mystery~), but that would effectively be the "holy" counterpart to an Istrala.
That being said, one of the key messages of the story and of the Istrala as a whole is that them being batteries of dark magic does not inherently make them evil; just differently aligned. As mentioned, outside the confines of this tale, Istrala are almost universally of a GOOD alignment. The source of their energy just has a different "polarity" to that of the paladins and as such functions in different ways.

Huh. Interesting. I just somehow think of Holy Istrala like the term "Holy Demon".
You're welcome by the way. I can't really design my own Istrala, but It like to imagine mine to be of the Good Alignment. Having Light over Demonic but more uses "Holy-Arcane Magic" Like in your Comics, but in a more defensive Manner and would rather protect Humanity rather than destroy it.
I, for one, prefer either Good Istrala or Light Istrala as what Rohan is, in my mind. He wants to save rather than Kill. But due to the situation at hand, his Options feel limited. I would understand that, despite Rohan becoming an Istrala, he still feels like he's human in some way, even though he had to sacrifice his Human Body to merge with the little Enyo that was near Death's Door...

"Holy Demon" is actually a very, VERY accurate description of them. As mentioned, Istrala are almost required to be a good alignment, so you're solid there. =)
As far using light-style magic, I'm not against the idea of a sort of "variable" Istrala in that regard if you wanted to have one.
