This is my Thursday Prompt for 4/1/10.

Prompt: Ashes.


I was toying with this melody last night. I'd actually really like to thank  poetigress for this prompt...because I really like how this turned out. I'll definitely try to write more for this soon ^^.

...and in retrospect, this reminds me that I really need to get better control of my voice. I guess it doesn't help that this was recorded shortly after waking up, without even having a drink yet. ><



The ashes fall down onto the ground
The remnants of who I used to be
Once so proud...I just couldn't see

And old photograph, a cigarette burn
A bottle of wine, a memory unlearned
A place in the crowd...a place far away

Forgive me but I can't remember
A name or a face...
No, I don't want to remember
Feeling that way

Give me my wings
Sing me a song
Give me the strength and I'll just carry on
Show me the way
Give me a reason
I'll try to be strong
As the ashes fall

Replaced the vocal track with a new recording in which I wasn't absolutely parched and just waking up xD.
