The Desert Eagle is actually a handgun designed for hunting. Since it has a short gas system, with the gas port literally a fraction of an inch away from the chamber, it's not suited to be a reliable backup weapon. And that's not to mention the fact that, with it's all-steel construction, it's as heavy as an M16A2.
