Though these wolf-like apparitions are insubstantial, their bite still goes through anything, worrying your flesh from bone in no time. Fighting against them is difficult, requiring advanced magic few can achieve. The key is defeating the one who has resurrected these creatures. One arrow through the head will suffice.
I'm finally getting over my artistic Mount Everest, this was started in 2008, and had been left in 90% finished state since then. It was a request by Marzolan for his D&D character, which has probably expired by now. Hopefully there's some recycle value with this still. Anyways, happy late birthdays 08 and 09, and early 2010, Marz. *grins*

I guess it's a motivational fave from me ;) - could have been better with some additional effort, but is already quite fine, certainly deserves much more attention than that single fav it had before I clicked it.
What I like in this piece that even though it looks somewhat rushed, the coarse details are properly placed, the lightning works, the tree in the background looks quite real, and the whole atmosphere in overall gives the indented eerie feel. But it could have been done much better with some (maybe more than less) additional work. Detailing the wood of the crossbow, some little cuts, rust, bumps, and probably other imperfections on the armor, wrinkles, and other elements of the face, well, if you only put effort in the areas under lighting the image could have been much better - maybe next time :)

Sorry for the delay, I really should pay more attention to this site. ^^;
Yeah, this one ended up being a rushed job, because my ideas always go beyond my drawing skills, and I'd gotten stuck for quite a while, not being able to finish it. As the tiger said above, even the character had managed to die before I got this done.
I kinda wanted the elf to look like it just came out of the manufacturing line, and thought to compensate with the grubby nature, but well, didn't happen this time. Yep, next time, perhaps.
And thanksies for the fave, FA doesn't really process non-furry all that well.

Well, so that's a post-mortem :D
I don't think roleplaying is something unusual at furries, they should really pay a bit more attention even if he is "just" an Elf, maybe should turn away for a bit from <beeep>, oh well :p
It's not bad to have too far-fetched ideas compared to the skill, many times it's the opposite I think. People who could draw have no inspiration, so they don't. If you have, time will give you the skill to realize it! Just be aware of your weaknesses and try to improve on those, never deny any. In digital art it is even easier to work and rework things when you notice defects, it's also very good for experimenting. Just put effort in it and give it the appropriate time. This latter is probably one of my faults as well: I can end in a "release, release, release goddammit!!" rush when I see there are just a "few" pixels left. And then you notice that you missed this, you malformed that, oh crap.
So maybe just give the art time. Don't run for release it, probably it's even worth to think like "Oh well, this is for a game, I just put it here back in the pile of backups, I don't want to publish everything to ruin all the surprise once the game is done". Or something alike. Then you probably will not want to release it immediately after this last little pixel. Just ideas, but I think it would worth! There are some very decent details on this image, so I really think if you gave the proper amount of time to one, you could end up with something really good!

It's true that letting it sit for a while gives one a new perspective to the work. I let the latest pic simmer for a month or two, and I think I actually ran out of the most blatant mistakes on it. Though I'm sure some more will pop up after a little while. Artists never make perfect work, at least they themselves tend to think so. =)
At least it's an iterative process, and things get better most of the time along it. Practice, practice, practice...
