This piece was done in tribute to my Dad and deserves a little backstory. There have been days when I've been feeling so distraught and it's hard to still go to my parents' house and still see his things all over the place, knowing he's not there anymore. But one day, the most amazing thing happened. I was sitting outside on the porch and I saw a single red cardinal, Dad's favorite bird. There were no other ones around at all. It suddenly hit me, that was him. That never used to happen before. So inspiration struck and I decided to visualize that in a commission of that single cardinal visiting me and speaking to me..... and it is my Dad.
This piece really does give me a little bit of closure and reassurance that he is there watching over me. I love you, Dad. Always and forever.
