The Liftship "Keelapykanim" on a planetary landing field, getting checked & serviced before departing with a small amount of cargo. (Liftship = A small spaceship for near-planetary and near-satellite use, capable of landing in large gravity wells.) The Keelapykanim is an independent intelligent cyborg, with possibly a semi-autonomous 'walkabout' body, which is an approximately human-sized symbiote android. On the field, around the ship, are the anthropomorphic (canine) shipcrew and fieldcrew. Probably 'beasts' (human + animal genetics) migrated from Sol-3 or other Sol planets.
Inked image done in 1973. Published in science-fiction fanzines & apazines. Influenced by underground comics creators, & other sf fan cartoonists (such as Vaughn Bode), and sf writers like Jack Vance and Anne McCaffrey.
Here is another autonomous liftship: "Ambermeer" https://www.furaffinity.net/view/260946/. Ambermeer is the liftship in the far left background. She is also the 'walkabout' in the center of the row of posed crew members. Some of the ships may have to nap when their walkabout is in full autonomous operation.

Thank you. At the time, since I wasn't trying to do this to match pro magazine art, or do it for a portfolio, I was comfortable turning the ship design (and characters) into something more cartoony. That allowed me to be more experimental in the ship design. That was a direction that I thought I saw through Vaughn Bode's art & toons.
